I will say that the reason I don't post much is because generally anything I would have to say has already been said, or I don't know enough about the topic so I just lurk around to learn.

Thats awesome man i do appreciate that, But why dont you do a contest or a GAW yourself? It gives more people a chance to win something, ill even enter if i can and since i dont have a bk5 ill pay it forward should i win.

This is the exact reason my first contest was for EVERYONE and i can appreciate this, but this time id like to give to those that have given back to me and the other members of the board
 
Another good way to give back is to upgrade your membership. I realize that dosn't give back to specific individuals but it does help the forum as a whole.

The only problem I see with this GAW concept is the type of people that give stuff away (ahem...) are typically the ones that shun publicity about the act. The ones most deserving might not be willing to enter.

But I've been wrong before...

Oh, I didn't mean that you should open the contest to everybody or anything. It was just in response to annoyance to posters not posting in anything but contests.
I think the idea is solid given you can get enough participants.

I know there's been a helluva lot of generous members here on the BK&T subforum.
Giveaways, contests, pass arounds, random acts of kindness.
The list of members who've done these is long.
How many would participate?
It would be interesting to see....

I'd enter it to be participating in it, but I'd not post up evidence of my giving. Unless the giveaway item was really excellent.
 
Hey it's your stuff, I got no right to say what you do with it or how. It makes sense, you want to make sure that the people who win stuff are people that deserve it. On the other hand one of the reasons for the giveaways is to get cool stuff into the hands of good folk who might not be able to get it otherwise, and most of the guys that can give stuff away already have or can acquire their own stuff and then they don't play because they want to see someone win it who needs it. I guess that's why some guys limit their GAWs to beckerheads, because those guys have contributed the the forum and are here to stay. ( I still need to start two threads but can't think of anything worth starting a thread for)

and I'll vouch for Faller on the "gives stuff away for free" thing.

I agree with this. I also think it defeats the purpose of the giveaway, to give recognition to those that give without asking for anything in return. If they entered themselves and provided "evidence" they would be asking for something in return. Why not have people nominate (or even vote on who is the most giving) FTR--I plan on upgrading to a service provider membership very soon and giving away a kydex sheath---

Nothing wrong with lurking, I was lurking here for a few months before I gathered up the courage to even make an account and show my (virtual) face. It's better IMO for people to spend some time observing the standards and practices before they jump in so they know the right way to handle themselves.

So the prize is going to be explicit livestock pictures right?
