Ideal buck knife for everyday use.

That's a highly personal question.

My most commonly carried Buck is a Duke 500, which I've modified by thinning out the blade. It's noticeably better with food prep and dealing with cutting wood (my two most common uses).

The other Bucks that come close are the 112 and the Ecolite 112. The 500 is nicer for pocket carry than the 112 and the Ecolite is a nice enough work or hiking knife.

One of several 301's. I rarely ever carry anything larger. My lifestyle since retiring never seems to present any task that the 301 can't handle. I never leave home without one in my pocket.

I do keep a variey of other Bucks in my motorhome just in case something comes up when I'm in a campground somewhere, but I don't consider them as EDC's.

I most commonly carry a 110 of some sort or Vantage 847 but the best all around knife, in my opinion, would be a 500. Strong as an ox, plenty big and better looking.

Buck 301. I do carry a 110 with me but it doesn't see much use. 301 is all I need for easily 95 percent of what I do.

If for some reason (God forbid :barf:) I had to go back to work, I'd carry one of these two. It and my 301 would cover just about anything I'd need a knife for and with the bail, it would hang on the clip on my tool pouch.

I carry my 500 Duke. It's big enough to handle everything I throw at it and I just Love the snap when I open it. A good strong all around folder that looks good to.

I read on a different thread that they will be making the duke 500 again, will I be able to buy these directly from buck soon? They have none listed on their website currently.

If history is any indication, I'm sure that they'll be available many other places long before you can buy one on Buck's website.

Today and everyday since as long as I can remember it has been one or the other of these 2

The 110 just got back from the Spa.

Unfornutely I don't carry a Buck. I don't have a Buck that I wouldn't mind abusing as much as I do my edc. I used to carry a Wally word cheapo buck ,but switched to my gerber paraframe. Then I bought a Buck Tempest to replace last year. But I dont like how the clip is not on the pivot end. Honestly I don't wanna ruin that Knife either. I am still looking I looked at the Bones but I am not fond of the style of blade. I do carry my mini alpha but honestly don't use it like I normal do my edc. I wish my alpha dorado clipped I would use that.

A 303 has been in my pocket for almost 35 years and when I head to the cabin a 110 is on my belt.

I use a Buck 186 with a TiAlN Buckcote blade that has been converted to a Selector, as has the handle. The micro edge has a working hardness of 92 HRC (hardness Rockwell C).
