You guys forgot one important thing.

Nick Wheeler for shop monkey!:D:p;)

Thats Funny.
This is my latest shop and we are quite happy.
We started in a 10'x12' outbuilding then moved to Pace Trailer 8'x20'
Five or six shops later and here we are.
Three outdoor grinders and three separate work rooms, clean room , grinding room and sheath room
Much Respect.

I just took a look around at some of the work you guys do, and I would say that while a larger shop, and more tools would be nice, you guys do a lot of excellent work with whatever you have now. Hats off to all of you!

Deker, nice list but you forgot a couple things. You missed the Rockwell hardness tester and Electron Microscope. Not to mention the BBQ pit for Hammer-Ins. -Doug

I like Rob's list... but with all of that, I'd ask for a bridge crane and a forklift so you could pick most of that stuff up and move it into position.

Of course you'd have to hire a rigging company to come in with a crane to move the stuff like the Nazel. :)

I have a crap load of tools at this point (BTW- Angi asked me the other day, "So just how much is a crap load???" to which I replied, "It's a little more than a butt load, but a little less than a shit ton." ;) :) ).

Anyway, I have all kinds of tools... and the biggest thing I want now is a nice big SHOP BUILDING with lots of light from windows/artificial light. And a roof that doesn't leak

Edited to add: Don is right!!! I wouldn't make a very good shop monkey. Maybe a shop cow or something... ;) :D Actually I bust my ass when I work for other people.... it's when I work for myself that I just can't stand that son-of-a-bitch boss I have!!!!! ;)

Forget all the extra space and equipment, I just wish my wife would stop parking her car right in the middle of my shop;).

I built mine 3 years ago.
16' x 32' divided in half.
Half is the forging side, and half is the finishing side.
The forging side has a dirt floor, much easier on the feet, I just rake the floor a couple of times a year.
My equipment;
Bader bIII
drill press
small metal cutting bandsaw
large metal cutting bandsaw
little torch
foredom flex shaft
Hydraulic press
rolling mill
twisting machine
chop saw
heat treat oven
bench shear
2 tool chests full of handle material
about 1000 lbs of steel for damascus
I could really use the 25 year old for cleaning the shop once in a while

If she is still parking in your shop. You ain't grinding enough micarta. Make sure
it is opposite of what color her car is. Use 1 1/2'' blocks for scales on your folders, also use a 36 grit belt. Every chance you get after grinding is write "wash me" on her car. Took me just once. Best use of 1' x 12'' x 36'' Micarta.

Ideal?

Waterjet
CNC
Surface Grinder
Mill
4 KMG Grinders
Horizontal grinder
Disc Grinder
Industrial bandsaw
5 drill presses set up for common operations
2 heat treat ovens
50x50 shop
AC/Heat
Industrial air filtration

Far fetched, but maybe one day.
