Ideal size slippy

The Vic Cadet is too thin. I do like a spear point better than a clip though.

That's what I found out to be the case with me. If the knife is a little too small, I can still get by if it's got a thicker handle. I guess that's why I got along with a peanut as well as I did, it's got a handle that's a bit chunky for is size. Kind of boxy. I carried a cadet for a while, but I didn't like how thin it was if I had to grip a bit tight to lean on it a little. I'd rather have too short but thicker handle, than long enough, but too thin.

I like one right around 3 inches, preferably below (but not too much). Since I usually also have an SAK on me for larger things.

Generally prefer around 3 3/4" like a boker copperhead, but recently fell in love with Case texas jack I got as a gift, have not carried anything else in a month. that says alot for me, usually rotate every few days. 3 5/8 may be my ideal now,lol

I love all of them!

I like small Multi blades like a peanut, or swayback jack. I like the bigger sized ones to be single blade like Sodbuster Jr. Or Menefee modified wharncliffe 3 7/8.

That's the trick for me, when the knife gets bigger, I like to only have one blade so it carries a little nicer.

A tiny muskrat is coming my way. It should arrive today. It is 2 3/4'' .I will give it a try. I never had a small one. Does any one like this pattern? This will be an easy knife to carry. I don't hear much about the Muskrat. I would appreciate any feedback.

I switch back and forth... practicing primitive skills is my main hobby..and through years I've gravitated towards larger knives.. the Large stockman and trappers for example sheerly for the robust construction and feeling they present..but lately have also been using the 3&5/8 models more and more barlows and stockman etc....a cutting edge is a cutting edge after all so there is not much more one can do with a longer folding knife that they cannot with a shorter one..handle size is more important to me. a larger handle is important for good control, and comfort for long term use, imho. which is why I love my peanut but do not use it often...

as a side note Jack walker..... the muskrat is a fine pattern knife... especially handy if you are a small game hunter or pan fisher.

I received the tiny muskrat. It's a case burmuda green pw. f & f is very good. Like you said, very nice but small. I like it, but a bigger handle would be better. I think the best size would be between 3 and 4 inches closed. the barlow has a nice fat handle. the trappers are pretty good size. I guess it depends what your needs are at the time. It's all good. Thanks.

I sharpened an old Case today for a CSM. I never saw that pattern, but it was nifty looking 3.375" long swell end, spear point master, with a punch second blade. Oh yeah and Yellow Handle CV blades to boot.
