Ideas fo a sheath please

I've made the bowie and researching the handle, now for the sheath. So far my idea is to use a canvas fire hose (a bit of my climbing rope guards). My projects are usually simple and a bit rough but nearly always practicle. Suggestions please.

What is theme for the Bowie? Is it period , modern or...

Leather is always nice but I am begining to prefer Kydex myself.

I'm inclined to go with the idea of a Kydex sheath being the best for rugged use and long life. However, I really hate plastic, so when I had a sheath made for my bowie, I went with heavy oiled leather.
