Ideas for a PSK bag?

I have heard all good, no Great, reviews of Maxpedition.
Top Shelf stuff.

I've been staring at the M5 for a mini-PSK for some time.

I carry a Maxpedition M2 pouch for my EDC, which is also my PSK. It's seen some field use and so far, it's working great.

Depending on heavy duty you want, and how many pockets and such you need, try looking around at www.sportsmansguide.com.
They have a military surplus section where you can pick up a variety of small bags of different types for $15-$30. Just a suggestion.

pitman, I have and use the maxpdtn versipack . I mount it under my maxpdtn falcon 2. The waist belt is great for a doubling belt, or U can tuck in the hidden compartment. After you walk in or arrive at your destntn. you unhook the versipack from the falcon2 backpack , put it around your waist and you do all your exploring. No need to take the main backpack from your camp site. Why carry all the weight all the time! and the falcon2 is perfect size pack to up or down grade with. I keep one camelbak resvr inside and an extra one when needed , mounted to the outside. With this type of setup will accommodate all applications for a BOB,assault, 3 day or 7 day pack.

the versipack is dismounted at the time of the pic. I was wearing it on my waist

I am looking for a bag to hold my PSK and so far this is the closest to what I am after....
http://maxpedition.com/product/product_vp_proteus.htm
I just wondered if anybody had any similar products they could recommend or if they actually had one of these and could give me their verdict!

I have the proteus that I use when I am on duty at the fire department. I like it. It is very durable and carries nice in the hand or on the built in belt. It isn't really big but it carries what I need for department use. Stethoscope, bp cuff, radio, pen, patient form, cheater book, spyderco assist II, cell phone, etc.

For my PSK bag I have ordered a Maxpedition JUMBO Versipack.

I prefer smaller backpacks/hydration systems to bum bags. They ride better and keep you hydrated but thats me.

Something "like" this is more utilitarian IMHO.

Skam

That was the method I used to use but find bum bag type carry systems better for what I now do ie short day hikes.I find they don't make my back sweat and restrict me as much as a rucksack. If I were to go on an extended hike or hike and camp etc then of course I would take a rucksack and attach my PSK to it !

I reccommend the camelback commander. It has a huge, logically organized cargo capacity. Is comfortable for extended periods, and has a large hydration resevoir. Plus being 'hunting' camo it appears to be less tactical looking, but not as good as a plain black bag. (i wish it came in black.) Plus it is only $100. This, plus a sheath kit or PSK worn on your belt and you will be Good to Go for several days/weeks/monthes? in the wilderness.

I use a buttpack for shorter day trips closer to civilized areas too...containing my PSK and hydration bottles...it's very convienent, but I prefer a back pack for hunting etc...

It's a mountainsmith pack and looks very civilian (the maxpedition though great for the woods...does not.)

I have a proteus that I take to work and back daily. Its good stuff. Its expensive, and I got mine on clearance. My only complaint is the butt pack strap. I'll never wear this thing as a butt pack, and could use another pouch in that location.

For my Bug out bags (3) I went to the Army Navy store and found suitable stuff. Lots of choice too. I love going to those stores anyway. Mechanics toolbags are good. I have one in each car. And an alice pack is nice for a larger, in the house, bag.

Just received my Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack. As is typical for Maxpedition stuff it is somewhat expensive and rugged as all get out. I don't mind the expense that much because I expect to only buy it once, since it should survive almost anything. I also bought the universal holster for it. I think this is going to work out perfectly. I will try to post some pics when I figure out exactly what I am going to carry in it. It is big enough to fit what I believe I want to put into it and hang off of it.
