Ideas for large-ish, sturdy jack knife?

Ok, methinks a small update is in order. I did some heavy thinking based on the suggestions given here and then decided to let the dice fly.

As a result, this is what I received today:

Not too bad at all, and that's quite an understatement. Easily the nicest slip joint knife I've ever had. Very solid, just the right size and really good fit and finish.

Thank you all for the help. :)

You made a fine choice

That's a great choice. Congrats, it's always a treat to get a new knife, especially when it's as nice as that one there.

I guess I was on vacation when this first rolled around, but better late than never!

Congrats on the Case/Bose Zulu, but if you still want something a little bigger, I can highly recommend the S&M Daddy Barlow.
Just under 5" closed, quality ATS-34 steel, and beautiful wormgroove bone hafting. I love mine.

You made the correct decision. :D That's the best knife on the market today, as far as I'm concerned. I have carried and used mine every day since it arrived, and will continue to do so. Congratulations, that is a magnificent knife. It will serve you well.

Ayup, really happy with this new arrival! It was a little expensive for me, true enough, so it'll be a while before I can get something new but as of now, I'm convinced it really is worth the cost. Great action, just the right sping tension and very nice and sharp too. Tip needs just a little bit of work to make it pointier but that's an easy fix.

So then, as soon as I had checked it out, into my pocket it went. A couple of hours later I noticed to my satisfaction the first faint scratches on the bolsters and shield surface. No more babying required, bye bye mint condition, guess I'm stuck with having to carry and use this one. Oh yeah, truly woe is me. :D

:thumbup:Great choice!! I've got a Zulu in African Blackwood, It's been my EDC
since the day I got it!! They've got a great feel!! Enjoy!!
I do!!! Thanks for sharing.

I had to do a doubletake when I saw this. I thought I was looking at a Tribal Spear until I noticed the bomb shield. And no rat-tailed bolster. Then I saw the tang stamp. Cool knife!
