Ideas on preventing knives from getting legs and walking off?

I usually dont lend my EDC anymore. First my friend uses it to cut a fish using CONCRETE(aka the ground) as a cutting board, effing up my finely, mirror polished, hair shaving edge. Then, same friend, on another fishing trip, stabs it into the wooden pier against the grain, breaking the tip off! Dumbass MFers need to get their own sh!T!
