Getting my new blade anvil today. I was wondering if anyone knows the anvil maker/origin by the emblem in the center. It is a lightweight at 100 pounds.

Thanks for any help.

From the bolt holes on the base i wouldimmediately say it is a Fisher, but don't qoute me on that one.

Definitely a Fisher. That's an eagle clutching an anchor, right? The bolt holes, as Sam pointed out, are also a giveaway. There's probably a "10" on one of the feet designating its 100 pound weight.

Fishers are good anvils (I have a nice 300# Fisher), made with a cast iron body and a cast steel face. They don't ring loud at all but they rebound nicely and never get swaybacked like the old wrought body anvils. This one looks to be in nice shape too. Good score.

Did some research and you guys are right on target. It's a light weight but it will do for now. I like the feel despite the weight.

Hopefully I will find a heavier one then I will use this for camping, smithing trips.

Thanks!

That anvil would like great setting in my shop.:D
Happy you got a good one hope to see some great knives from it. Thanks for showing.

100 lb lightweight huh? I have been banging on the end of a sledge hammer.... I would think that 100lbs would be perfect for knife making. but I am just guessing. nice score man!

I wish mine was that nice...

It looks like a Fisher to me too. I have a 300# one. Does it have a date on the back part??? Mine has 1916.:)
