Identifying Folders by Sound?

Have you ever been able to identify what is being opened by just the sound it makes and nothing else. I have some that I can do that with, they are unique enough for me to be able to identify by the click, thwack, snap, thud, etc that it makes.

All of the knives I have right now I can do this with. One of my friends even tested me one night when we were joking about it. Got 15/15 right on the guesses, and it wasn't because I was guessing

It's one of those things that is just a matter of what kind of knives you have as well though. If I had a lot of much more similar knives with the same locking mechanism from the same maker, it would probably be much harder to tell in general.

I've found many automatic knives have particular sounds such that you can discern what they are just by sound alone.

Folders, not so much. I had at one point four of the same model, and they all sounded different.

Every knife i own has a unique sound. And i am more than confident in my ability to identify them by that noise.

I can identify some of mine, but certainly not all. I know one thing...nothing sounds sweeter to me than the thwack of a good solid back lock.
