Idiots of ebay...

To my mind, no, you haven't redeemed yourself. Quite the oppossite. You've once again suggested that someone is acting dishonestly without any research into the issue. I did three things: 1. I asked the seller if the knife in question actually had an olive green handle, and pointed out that the knife in the picture had a black handle. I'll let you know what the seller has to say. 2. I looked at the other items that seller has for sale. One of them is some sort of fake pistol with an olive green handle. If you've done any selling on e-bay you know that there is a "list similar item" feature that allows you to produce a duplicate listing to one you've already made, and then simply edit that listing for another item. It saves you having to re-write things like shipping and return policies. So the olive green handle description for the Matriarch listing could be an editing mistake. 3. I looked at the seller's feedback rating, which is 100% positive. Given points 2 and 3 above, it appears to me that the seller has done something called making a mistake. Intelligent, honest people make mistakes. I never fault people for making honest mistakes. What I find frustrating is that some people seem incapable of learning from their mistakes, and make the same mistakes over and over and over.

I'm pretty sure "buyer beware" and "do your homework" were sound principles long before e-bay existed, and apply to pretty much any transaction.

Well, maybe I've not in Ritt's eyes...however, I do know there is a little thing at the end of listing an item on ebay that is called 'REVIEW' the posting...evidently some people don't know how to use that feature as of yet either. Go figure! You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time. I just started this thread for a place for people to show stuff they've seen on ebay that isn't quite up to par...and a place to discuss it. Anyhow, I'd close this thread if I could maybe Carlos or Sal could do it. Doesn't seem to be going the way I had hoped it would go. Once again, GO FIGURE! *doesn't get to slip on his 'I survived Charley t-shirt'* Keep those people in your prayers that were not as fortunate and didn't expect the hurricane. :(

IMHO this is a good thread. There IS many that list on Ebay with the intent to misrepresent the item and it is good that if someone catches it to tell about it.

I found this one sorta funny...though not what I would title an 'Idoit of Ebay'. I think I might start a thread of 'Homegrowns'. Here is one to have a chuckle at though on ebay item #2266748510. Enjoy! :p

Maybe I shouldn't have titled the thread 'Idiots' as much as well you come up with a name for it. Here is an item that I know you all could add critism for on ebay Item number: 2267063890 . I mean did they actually ever put out a Spyderco Harpy with Aluminum Handles??? Come on...did they? :p

Uhh ... as to that Endura. That seller's idea of what "minty" means is different from what most of us expect. :barf: Watch out!

One of the other guys bought a supposed "minty" knife from him recently that was nowhere close to "minty" when it came in. Yeah, he'll take the knife back, but he wants a 20% restocking fee.

Razz

Watch out! I just saw this one on ebay advertised as well look --->

CUSTOM POLISHED, GOLD INLAYED, SPYDERCO NATIVE KNIFE Item number: 2268722365

I enlarged one of the two pics through ebay not on my own and saw all those little notches on the blade spine! Looks like a BRK Native to me...Anyone else have an opinion??? Let me know... :p
