If any moderators are watching, please help benchmade

If I have some specific requirement, like I want a blade spine finished with 240 grit, I do not go buying any knife I like and then sending it to the manufacturer warranty department to have it re-finished to the grade I want: it does not work this way. I either look for the knife that meets that requirement (yes, if I make a mistake assuming that particular model has it and it does not: I may send it back and have my refund), or I refinish the spine myself, or I find a custom maker and order from him, agreeing in advance what I expect and that he commits to deliver. These are the ways: not buying a production knife and then expect it customized free of charge by the manufacturer: whoever it may be!
So if you do not like the knife: return it! If you got a knife with a defect: have it fixed. But you can not have sort of both: do not expect the manufacturer to fix something that you do not like and what is not a defect. Well, at least that's my personal understanding of what is right and fair.

Just throwing this out there...

Is there a difference between steels that would cause this? Some steels being more "grainy" than others? I haven't paid much attention to steel types much past ATS34 (lol showing my age maybe...) or John Greco's A2 and "8" steels...

Just a thought...

Shouldn't the title of this thread have been, "If any Benchmade moderators are watching, please help"? :D
