If these Busses are so great, why do so many people have other knife guys regrind/reshape/reprofile their Busses? Ive also read on this page where people are saying if they were grinding at Busse it would be an improvement over what they are putting out now? I dont understand why you pay these prices for something that has to be reworked. I have a few Busses and they are nice, but so are ALOT of my other custom/semi custom maker blades. It just seems like I hear alot of chatter about dull knives from the factory and the whole reworking thing. Has the factory slipped?

This poster has been banned for trolling, as seen below. Thanks Esav.

I would hazard a guess that they do it because they want a different grind/shape/profile on their blade.

Some people like a really thin profile. Some people don't. Busse can't put both on the same knife at the factory, so they do a thick profile, so people can thin it if they want to, and just leave it like it is if they prefer a thicker profile.

None of my Busses "needed" to be reworked. All came more than sharp and thin enough for what they were intended for.

Is the fit and finish rough sometimes? Yes. Does it matter on a hard use knife? No. Does it matter to you? I don't know, that's up to you to decide.

Why do people change the sights on their handguns? Put scopes on rifles with iron sights already there? Put different stereo's in their cars other than the factories? Because what's already there doesn't quite fit them or they just want something a little different. I have yet to buy a Busse that couldn't do what it was designed to do straight out of the cardboard and I've been around a long while.
And to answer your question, no the factory hasn't slipped. I believe it's gotten better. How much "chatter" you DON'T hear should testify to that.

They have great re-sale value. If you don't like the model that you purchased you can usually get your money back through re-sale. The main reason I got into BUSSE is that I was lured into it (like a moth to the flames) after I saw this this video of Amy-O doing a Snoopy Dog Dance. Kidding aside; there are some other good knife manufactures out there and I own knifes from several manufactures, not just BUSSE. But everything I've read on the Internet says BUSSE is one of the best. And you get what you pay for.

It's interesting that with a post count of 3 you have come onto this forum and immediately gone negative.
Most of us relative newbies who first began posting here introduced ourselves, showed pics of our knives and generally behaved in a friendly manner.
You seem to have a problem with Busse in general....... I predict a rough ride for you on this forum......

Busses come from the factory ready for abuse. Literally a 'throw anything you want' at it edge.

Troll alert!

FFCFO came directly to Bladeforums looking to abuse .. something. Formerly known as gprippers, scalesandtails, and mountainsofalaska.

Now also known as banned.

Before you come on here charging like a bull, some leading questions should have been asked.

I/E

why do you buy BUSSE's
what so good about INFI
ETC
ETC

stuff like that, not just charging in head down like a bull.

Not so much into Busse, but I own a couple of them. Battle Mistress, Mean Lean Street and Assault Shaker. Yes, they are not hair-shaving sharp, but they are very tough. I use my Battle Mistress for general camp chores, including chopping and splitting woods, and sometimes I even use it to cut down a tree (not that big a tree, about 1-2 ft in diameter). For these kinds of use, I need toughness, not hair-shaving sharp. Although I must admit that for smaller knives, I prefer a not-so-thick knife but sharp. That's why I usually reprofile the edge on my smaller Busses. Tough steel IMHO.

sounds like you have an axe to grind.

why do people do it??...not because they have to.more because they want to.all busse designs are great.we have some people here who are very talented at grinding.they have a knife and decide to get creative.

maybe it was designed for a certain task but they get an idea to alter it and give it a whole new capability just for something to do.

maybe you bought a cheaper one that was coated but you wish you got a limited edition with a satin finish so you put your own satin finish on it or since busse doesnt really do polished finishes you want to put one on yourself.

maybe jerry wanted the knife to have a full flat grind but you want to experiment and put a hollow grind on it like BAN has done to the CGDM & CGDF.its the same reason people alter the engines of their cars or put lift kits on their trucks.

i would suggest in the future informing yourself more about the topic you speak of before you criticize so that next time you dont come across as ignorant and troll'ish.

maybe try a different approach to introducing yourself on forums if you want to make friends, but then again you could be here just to start problems or stir the pot, idk.

out of curiosity, what busse knives do you or have you owned???

Why have it reworked? You tell me.

You can't read these forums for over a week without running across several people stating that they reprofile all of their new knives, particularily regarding folders.
Even the revered Sebenzas get such treatment.

Knife people seem to be natural "tinkerers", with firm ideas of what they want in a knife. If someone is trying to achieve their ideal, what better place to start than the knives that are closest to ideal already, i.e., Busses?
