If I just get (knife x) I will be satisfied and won't need to buy anymore....

At the point all i care about is obtaining in order

1. all sizes of hunderer's
2. Zt 0560

After i get those 4 ill be satisfied

Les George and Tashi Bharucha collab called chef flipper. Still no date when it'll be made, but I can safely say that once they're made and I have one in my possession, I'll never have to buy anything else

I read the title of this thread and my only thought was to come in and post "Nope". I've always thought of knives like a stock portfolio. You gotta diversify. Of course it differs from person to person, but in lieu of the money I won't make on my knife purchases unlike the stocks I've purchased (fingers crossed), I've never had that mindset with knives. I knew I would want/have a vast array from the very beginning. Thanks for the chuckle though.

I realized the only way to stop buying knives is to stop visiting blade forums. I went on a knife craze last summer and spent a crapton of money on knives. Then I diverted my attention to mountain bikes and sold most of my knives to fund that hobby. I stopped visiting BF for a good 6 months and completely stayed away from knives. Now I'm back and the purchases are happening again. NOOOOOOOO!!!

-"After I get this one I'll be done...then I'll have a hawkbill."
-"After I get this one I'll be done; needed a fixed blade."
-"After this one I'll be done...every knife guy needs a machete."
-"After I get this one I'll be done; I really needed a traditional, people-friendly knife."
-"After this one I'll be done...had to get a pink knife to be ironic."
-"After this one I'll be done. Having a Spyderco is always a good idea to see what the fuss is about."
-"After this one, I'm TOTALLY done. I just had to get a Benchmade to see what the fuss is about."
-"After this one I'll be done. Can't say anything about Cold Steel if I don't try out at least one product."
-"After THIS one, I'm done. I just had to get an axe."
-"Well, after this one I'm done. I just HAD to get that knife I saw Hannabal use/Predator/Crocodile Dundee/The Edge/Call of Duty/Cool Hand Luke/Survivorman/etc."
-"After this one I'm done. I needed to get a sword to round out the collection."
-"After this one I'm done. I just needed a shorter sword."
-"After this one, I'm done...needed a longer sword."
-"After this one I'm done; a hatchet IS different than an axe, afterall."

:D

That is pretty much the dialogue in my head.

I've said it about my:

Darrel Ralph Gunhammer
Direware Solo V2
Busse Boss Jack Proto
Busse Urban Grudge
Busse SARGE 7
Busse HG55
Busse BWM LE
Busse SAR 3
Horton Ringed Fighter
Horton Ringed Fighter 2

And I'm still buying more :)

that said I rock the BWM LE / SARGE 7 / SAR 3 for outdoors and the Horton RF for badassedness

My ZT0560 has really put the brakes on my knife buying addiction. Well that and my need for new golf clubs.

My next pickup will probably be a gunhammer. After that, I might be done for a bit.

For me it has been a battle of "types" and a battle of "features".

Knife "types" for me are big / survival, medium fixed, EDC fixed, and folding.

Knife "features" are blade design, length, thickness, height, grind, edge, choil vs no choil vs ricasso, guard vs no guard, and handle design.

I recently won the "big / survival" battle.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/954223-stanley-white-s-new-edition

The "EDC fixed" battle was won in 2009 courtesy of Michael Morris and his Pocket Filer design.

The "folding" battle was won in 2011 via a Swiss Army Farmer.

The only battle remaining is the "medium fixed" one. :D

I think all of us through trying this and that slowly but steadily decide what "types" and "features" work for us.

If my delica ffg didnt have that weird lockback blade play, it would be perfect, I hope that spyderco can fix this with the next delica.

If I didn't have an Internet connection, I'd probably have a LOT less knives..

EDIT: Knife catalogues before the advent of the interwebs must have been the precursor to Internet p0rn...

Has anyone else experienced this advanced form of self delusion?

I keep thinking that I just don't have the RIGHT knives, so if I can get the one I need, it'll all be okay.

I'm so glad my wallet doesn't have teeth, because that thing HATES me at this point.

Every time.

I think that about my Gun Hammer. At least until Darrel comes out with a new rendition of the Gunny. Then I have to buy that. Haven't had to buy a fixed blade in a while though. My knife purchases actually slowed down a lot once I started making, because all my money goes into that. Particularly buying tools. Just get used to never having money.

I have a ton of amazing knives and really it's hard for me to find some new one I want.

I say this now.

Till they invent s500v, and I buy 25 knives in that steel because you only have to strop it once every 5 years.

Something Like That.

I only need one more knife. I just need to get spyderco to make a paramilitary2 with Titanium handles, the Superleaf blade, then sent to Tom Krein to do his regrind. Then I just need them to make different versions in OD Green, digi cam, orange, flame annozided. Then do a few sprint runs with steels that impossible for me to sharpen, then make a small and XL version maybe a fixed blade version and I promise I will not want any more knives.

i used to thnk that then i realized the truth. Honestly i found i really slow down in knife buying when i have something else to focus on.

Are you kidding?
