I just got a Fallkniven F1 in the mail--wonderful knife! I love the fit, finish, and size. I would appreciate your recommendations for something else in the same or similar size catagory, with an uncoated blade (sorry RAT fans) but not necessarily stainless. I wonder if a Beretta Loveless is a good choice.

Well you just got a top of the line production blade soo....that leaves customs.:D

Lots of great makers here....This one is my favorite. Same size as your F1 but 1/8" O1, from JK handmade Knives (I can also recomend Koyote Knives). It is John's Hiker Model (though he changed the handle design for 2010).

Give our makers a try great blades at competitive prices.

Has a convex grind alot like the Fallkniven, so it should feel right at home in your hands.

Maybe a stripped RAT:rolleyes: Pictures stolen out of the RAT Cutlery Photo Thread.

I vote for the following (images borrowed from wherever I could find them online):

Swamp Rat Harry Carry:

Of these, the Spyderco Street Beat will be the easiest to find.

A CS Master Hunter is the knife I go to. I have had an original issued in Carbon V since like 88 maybe earlier. First year they came out I bought it. BEST hunter/hiker I have used. keepem sharp

If you haven't done the scandi thing yet; maybe you'd like to check out ragweedforge. Find the one blade style you love by buying five different knives and then either get a blade blank or take the pre-existing handle off and have it rehandled. Just a thought to get you something one of a kind that you know is built for you... rather than someone saying to buy a $200 brkt only to find out you hate the blade profile or grip , or both.

If you like the F1 and the convex edge that comes with it, then as the posts suggest above you should begin your journey into Bark River knives, which has a multitude of options in that size, along with choices on handle material and sheaths. I think the best source for viewing their line of knives and options is knivesshipfree.com.
