MPJ3 you are not too far off the trail with your initial thought. You CAN use a hard wheel grinder such as you are getting as the basis for a belt grinder of the two wheel sort. You can use a drive wheel on the gr9inder as the power source, and run the belt around that and a back wheel that provides the tension and tracking adjustments. To buy the contact wheel, and rear pulley/wheel/tracking stand is quite expensive though. You can make something your self if you are willing to put some time and thought into the design. Lots of scrap angle iron,hacksaw blades and cap screws required. :)
 
Welp, the grinder is in the mail. Cost a total of 32$ with shiping, brand new. All I have to do now is build a bench in my garage and set up all of my new toys. I need to buy a table clamp with rubber gaurds, any ideas on were I can get one cheap?
