Listening closely to Ethan's video from SHOT, I came across something I hadn't heard before.

This happens when he's discussing the BK16.

He tells us that some folks like a drop point and some like a clip point, then implies it's an either-or thing.

Perhaps I'm unusual in this, as in so many other things.

I like both! But ... what about you BeckerHeads? Is it an either-or thing for BeckerHeads? And, if so, which design gets the most love?

Hrm, I cant really answer that poll because my answer would be misleading.

I do like both but not for all the same stuff.

Fan of a clip point for a fighting/self defense knife but not for bush craft so much.
Fan of a drop point, or spear point for pretty much any and all bush craft, but not as much for a fighter.

Seeing as I really do not plan to be in a fighting situation, I prefer to carry and use a drop point or a spear point. I could still defend myself with one and use it for all the reasons that I carry it.

A clip point I am sure can do all the bushcrafty things as well, its just not so much to my taste.

Clip for hunting, drop for bushcrafty stuff.

Oh ... I definitely like the clip point for some things and the drop point for other things [it seems The Guyon speaks for me in this].

I think you're safe polling, if you feel like it.:)

I was just surprised to hear Ethan say that. I rather thought everybody ... liked both!

I like them both, but I like the design of the BK17 more, so thats where my vote went. I like the grind :).

Mods... you think we could maybe get a passaround set of these so everyone could try them all out before we buy them?

It is weird though, I generally prefer knives without swedges... but for some reason the BK17 speaks to me...

Honestly, the order I'll likely purchase the tweeners is BK17, BK16 and maybe someday the BK15.

Hmm.

It seems Ethan's knowledge is profound. There may be ... something about the swedge.

We'll give it a few more days and see.

I like both but clip point on a small knife seems weird to me. In my mind - that's for big, honkin' bowies.

My EDC for forever (before I was "into" knives) was a gerber paraframe, which has a clip point on it. Maybe thats why it doesn't seem weird to me?

I like the clip better. But. I just don't see the bk9 as a drop point. I have seen it modded to a clip and it doesn't look right to me. So. Drop point unless its a bk9. :D

I prefer clip. I like the pointier tip.
Also, when I grip my Becker handles naturally (with my thumb joint in the screw hole) my thumbtip aligns perfectly with the tip of the knife, so I get good control
