If knives were cars...

Now I just need to find a Bugatti to pose with my Rockstead's:D

Bluesbender, I wanted to call rocksteads a Bugatti but never seen one personally so I held back hoping someone else would comment. Two things I'll probably never be the operator of!

Nothing exotic....first visualized according to my mind's eyes.......followed intent/purpose...with my own hands...slightly personalized...mod'ed...pimped...warmed over production car....done for personal satisfactions....

Similar to the car toy, my "production" Rocksteads are purchased for personal satisfactions....will stay "stock"...will never get the same personalized treatments....not to be used - since I have a plethora of purpose designed tools/cutting tools and have no need...acting like a fool....to impress others that I "use" my Rocksteads....LOL!

I like Kershaw better than that. I would say that Gerber=Toyota

Nobody has said CRKT yet, so CRKT=Hyundai
I can see where your coming from, but have you ever drove a decked out Avalon? Quite luxurious [emoji2] More a high opinion on Toyotas. But I also like how you sorted things.

Crkt is like Kia to me.

Lifted 4x4 Tacoma:

Holy Smokes that thing is amazing! My favorite knife you've ever posted CM! And that's really saying something!

Eta: my Buck 110 is like my '06 GMC Sierra. Heavy, not the best at any one thing, but American, reliable, and I love it, flaws and all - though not my favorite vehicle/knife I've ever owned.

If you were to compare knives to cars how would you do it and what knives would you compare to what cars? What knife companies to what car companies?

Here's how I see it:

Kershaw-Toyota
Zt-lexus
Sebenza-well, it already says Benz. :)
Spyderco-Jeep
Benchmade-Audi

My dragonflies are like the quick little dirt bikes, my leeks are crotch rockets. Large fixed blades are like trucks.[emoji2]

Benchmade-Audi?

I don't think so. More like a BMW. Both are slightly overpriced for what you get.

Spyderco may have some Jeep type blades but I just can't picture those two companies matching up. Not really sure where to place Spyderco.

Why would that be foolish:confused: Sure, many people don't use their Rockstead's, but some people don't use a $200 ZT either:D I don't know about you, but I'd get no joy out of a knife I can't use:(

Why would someone be "impressed" if another uses a Rocky:confused: They might be surprised, but not impressed... I wouldn't be impressed if someone drives a Ferrari, but I'd be surprised because it's not common.

More to the list:

Microtech- DeLorean
CRK/Hinderer/Strider argument- Ford/Chevy/Dodge argument
Medford- Hummer
Olamic- Porsche

Case - Ford ( the sodbuster is a workhorse like the old F-100 )
Buck - Chevy ( the 110 is like the '57 belair because it's an American classic that will never die, not to mention that it's just as sexy )
ZT - BMW ( expensive and fancy but ugly as hell )
Crkt - Yugo ( low cost imports that get the job done )
Ka-bar - the jeep ( saw us through ww2 and still going strong )
Cold steel - Hummer ( they cater to people who want to be a badass )
Victorinox - Honda ( because they just work )

My car is small and manual.
So is my Dragonfly.
Can you guess what I drive?

I also keep a Blur Glassbreaker in the center console, might be glad to have it someday.

Looks Miata-ish to me. Same engine start button as my wife's CX5.

^^ Subaru BRZ. Next!

Spyderco = BMW. Not #1 at any particular category, however, exceedingly high marks in all categories. Balance + refinement. The comments such as 'overpriced,' 'ugly,' etc., are the same arguments against Spyderco knives. They're the cars you probably won't 'get' until you spend some time behind the wheel. ;)

Well I have a BMW and it's still ugly after owning it. I have a Spyderco and it's still ugly after owning it. I don't get either

But I'd love to have a 2002Tii, an E20 320, or e30 M3 or better yet all three.

*E21. ;)

Exactly. It's the experience that defines them. I've owned two E30's, driven a modded 2002 several times, and I know a guy with a handful of E21s. While they certainly don't make them like they used to, but the experience is still there. Spyderco, the ultimate cutting machine. Lol.

Lol, well spyderco grew on me and now I like how they look, but still find this comment hilarious!

Your right e21 I'm an idiot...

The BMW magic went away when they got big and fat so say e36 on the 3 side and e60 on the 5 side.

I don't know....I kinda like the looks of BMWs. Personally, I love the looks of my BMW K bike. Don't really care for the looks of most Spyderco products. They are nice knives though.

e46 3 series and older look good in my opinion. I used to drive a 2000 e46. The since then they've been ugly (e90 through e93). Thanks alot Chris Bangle. But the new 2016 models are looking better.
