If knives were cars

Maybe stupid but could be fun. What if knife companies were auto brands. Here’s how I kind of think they compare:

Mercedes- Spyderco
Toyota - Kizer
Chevy - Kershaw
Lexus - WE
Hummer - Medford
Bentley - Chris Reeve
Ford - Buck
RAM - Cold Steel
Maserati- Reate
BMW - Benchmade
Subaru - CRKT
Porsche- Emerson
Ferrari - Strider
KIA - Real Steel
Tesla - MicroTech
Acura - Hogue
Honda - Civivi
Audi - Zero Tolerance
Cadillac - Lion Steel
Hyundai - Boker
Other??

Hope this will be fun and not a lame-o thread.

I disagree with you on a few.

Audi doesn't have enough big vehicles to be the "tank" of the premium knives. ZT should either be Mercedes; as their G-Wagons are used by many militaries and they also produce a wide range of premium vehicles. Or, Jaguar/Land Rover (owned by one company) as they have the large vehicles, military vehicles (Defender), and jaguars are the smaller sleek knives. Lionsteel is a proudly italian company, and you gave them the all american Cadillac? Lionsteel should be Alfa Romeo. Spyderco has too wide variety of price offerings to be Mercedes, should be more like Toyota/Lexus. Kershaw should be Volkswagen in my opinion, as they have a wide range of vehicle models, pricing all with good fit and finish.

I don’t passionately believe in any of my matchups - just trying to put something fun up.

My reasoning for Ferrari-Strider was reputation of performance, low availability, and really high prices.

Yes looks like you nailed it.
I'm the hot rodder down the block so :

I always say this is the Ferrari of box knives. Modded to take a 0.4mm blade, super light, efficient and fast. I even think it is beautiful. I'm changing that to Lotus now that I've thought about it.

Here's my "Micky Thompson Rail Dragster" just as I got it from the master (Sal). I might do some small modding to it but for now I'm running it as is just to make the local gear heads jealous.
Of course it's got a Hemi (K390).

'55 Chevy with wrinkle walls, blower, headers . . . yup wheelie bars ! !

Does this mean those knives in the fishbowls in the gas stations would be those former eastern European soviet block cars ?

It was just a test to see if you were paying attention.
So your vote for Ferrari is . . . .
(don't make me post a photo of my CS Ti Lite IV full flat ground CTS-XHP; it's so wrong but it's so right.)
We've all seen it so might as well post it again.

I have a difficult time equating knife manufacturers to auto manufacturers. I do know strider isn't Ferrari and crkt isn't Subaru.

Strider is a crap stolen valor pos and crkt has the opposite rep as Subaru.

If we really want to break this down, perhaps the op can enlighten us on the above.

:(
. . . sound of a film audio track slowing down to a stop.
Sitting in the dark waiting for the projector dude to fix it.

Like I said, I did this just for fun and didn’t anyone would take it too seriously.

Someone asked me to explain Subaru compared to CRKT. I just thought lower cost cars (but good) and stuck in one of the many sub $100 knife brands that many people like.

Ferrari - Strider was probably a mistake but there’s really no knife brand that’s separated itself from the rest of the market as Ferrari (maybe Mclaren) so I had to stick something there. I based it on availability, performance reputation, and high cost. Totally understand why some people have a negative reaction and would rather never see that name again.

How about Yugo - Mtech? Does that lighten the mood?

Sorry if that turned something “fun” into negative feelings.

Don’t worry, be happy

I think this thread will become a flame war.

IBTL.

I equate the Strider more to the Jeep Wrangler-low frills and a matter of taste-and that is the knife not the person
