If the Great Pumpkin carried a knife

I do find the orange more 'trail savvy' (sheeple) when coming across others on hikes. They always stop for a chat and you can see them looking you over at the various pack choppers, neck knives and belt knives typically carried. For some reason the orange appears to advocate a feel of 'safe' and that appears acceptable?????

I think I just talked myself into it... :(

You won't regret it at all.

I'm still trying out different carry positions trying to decide how I want to carry it.

Love the orange. Love the olive drab blade. Honestly.

But I will never understand why ESEE/R.A.T. paired the OD blade with orange handle slabs. It does, IMO, detract from both.

The OD blade in my Izula is MARVELOUS with the green canvas micarta slabs. I would LOVE the ESEE-3 and ESEE-4 OD blades with with EITHER the black linen or green canvas micarta.

My perfect world would have the OD blade with the green canvas; black blade with orange G10; an desert tan with black linen. But that's just me.

I will admit I would prefer a black blade/orange combo. But I dont mind the OD/orange....

Yeah, I grew to love the OD/Orange combo even I was initially really wanting a black/orange combo.

Don't get me wrong. I have two orange/OD. Well, actually, "had." One of them I stripped. The orange seems to pop better on a black or stripped/patinaed blade. That is what I meant by the combination detracting from both, IMO.

Similarly, I have and OD Izula that has the green canvas micarta scales. The two seem to accentuate each other, so that the olive really comes out better.

A different Izula (as well as the H•E•S•T) is black with the canvas micarta scales. Works great. Not as great as orange on black, but is great. And then of course black linen on DT... a black and tan. What more could you want?

I've got 'em all anyway, and could probably mix and match. But then the scales don't fit as perfectly. And I already tried monkeying with my black ESEE-4's scales and ended up having to ask for help from ESEE. Which they did for free, much to my chagrin. So I'm not messin' with that one anymore.

So anyway, enjoy your pumpkin knife. It is certainly VERY SWEET as OD and orange. I'm just throwin' some more opinions out there.
