If The Kamis Could Switch Over To Any Steel, What Should They Use And Why?

the damacus look in a Khuk would be awesome( especially in a chitlangi) and
maybe lighter colored handle, with silver bolsters and pommel , Not ivory(illegal of course ) but some similar material. I like it.

I have heard rumor that a lot of the older kriss are made from meteor metal,
I like the idea of a khuk made of meteor as well, especially one with a higher nickel content. Sounds like something you could use to slay something very evil doesn't it? or maybe when you unsheath it , it would glow when evil was about. It sounds magic, it would have to be , has anybody priced meteors( big bucks guys)? There is a market for these things and they are expensive.

I joke with my wife , that if I got to go , I want to be hit in the head with a 50 lb golden meteor, First of all , it would be gold ($$, no golden meteor ever found that I know of) an secondly it would be from space and then it would have this shady past ( killing me ), it would be priceless and more than likely I wouldn't feel a thing or know what had happpened, better than any insurance policy I have ever heard of. She would never work again, heck she would probably have a tourist attraction on her hands, Needless to say the odds are not in my favor.....

:D

nice story anyway - great headline potential....

:D

Bramtoken you are correct in noting some keris were indeed made from meteorite. A meteor fell in 1749 in Prambanan Java, and subsequently was the supply for some of the nickel content of some of the court keris of the time, and made for a brighter pamor as pre-Euro trade as at percentages between 5-9% nickel it bore a higher nickel concentration than the locally mined Celebes nickel bearing iron which was only about .4%. However, the reality is that only a very few keris were made with meteorite, though of course unscrupulous dealers always love to say that keris with particularly bright pamor are meteor. Anyways, Edward Frey's book The Kris has more information on the subject, as well as a pic of the meteor.

I have heard meteor is very brittle due to the high nickel content, and difficult to work with. Also, in the end you are paying for the idea of meteor, the results are not over-awing. Still a great idea.

BT? Actually, it would seem the odds ARE in your favor...presuming you want to live, that is. Your wife seems to be the one who is working a long shot.

Now this "shady past" business...how do you know that you wouldn't be the object of suspicion and post-mortem accusations.

"MAN killed by Golden Meteorite !!! Divine Intervention suspected!!! God was REALLY PISSED !!!"

"CIA and Religious Leaders cooperate to investigate just how much of a stinker BT really was. Film at 11 !!!"

Dunno, but I'm thinking your plan might not be feasible. Find another way to die, ok? Take your time.

Kis :D

it would be like the last guy to leave the ol' place of employment, I would
be blamed for all sorts of ill will, screw ups, misc stupid things and just plain evil.... I'm sure.

But I don't think I would worry about it?

W2 BABY!!!

Daniel, im in the process of building a forge as well... what resources are you using for your design?

tomorrow, i get to go buy parts, assemble, and hopefully test my atmospheric burner... heres to hoping that i dont blow myself up...

not brave nor smart enough to set up my own forge....

I'm getting a custom-made one from Darren Ellis.

I agree with Keith's idea of D2 for the karda and chakma. Maybe even A2. Either would be sweet.

Of course....what I'm trying to do at this time is get some CPM-3V fired up and going.....on pause till the forge shows up....:(

It would be cool to get hit with a Mercury one too...

That would be a MESSED up corpse....

hmm but i doubt a glob of it would stay together durring entry...

maybe iron with it in the core....

what about w2? its a water cooled steel, and the kamis do use water... plus, it makes a nice hamon!
