I got my boot fitted yesterday at the hospital, to look after my severed Achilles tendon. The surgeon said that I can try walking on it in about two weeks time. So I'm getting ready...
Well, ruptured really, rather than severed I suppose. I was running up a slope and it just snapped in two with a loud pop. Doc said it's probably a result of all my 'healthy activities' like playing squash and running up mountains!
Funny thing was, The slope that I was running up was in the hospital car park! The hospital had called us in urgently as my father had been taken in and was going into emergency surgery. So I spent three hours hopping around while they sorted him out (he's OK now) then checked myself in. They operated on the tendon the following morning and stitched it back together. I've just had the cast replaced with this articulated (when they let me adjust it) boot.
Dood! I want one of those to wear around just for an excuse to latch all of that gear on there. Beats carrying a man-purse! You may be on to something there- get Maxpedition on the horn!
