there's always linux... I build my own boxes and as long as I set it up right I tend to stay issue-free with microsoft OS's. At least this box has been fine since I built it.
 
I had an HP E-Vectra with MS 2000 Professional on it and that was the most stable system I have ever used. It lasted for five years which is a testament to Windows 2000 Professional and H-P. I have never had anything as stable as that. Windows 95, 98, and XP cannot even compare. I had two XP machines go down within 10 months. Hopefully, this will be a bit better.
 
I'm havin the same kida problem. Mine went down Fridasy night. Using a computerm at the library right now. Got mine in seeing if I can get it fixed.
 
I was amazed to see a security guard in my county library. I couldn't believe it. All the survival books were out! :D
 
Win2000, I agree, is the most stable operating system I have ever used. There are some good linux substitutes out there if you know what you are doing, Ubuntu and Suse are nice. Too bad InsaneMachine is sleeping, at one point he was a linux NUT!
 
I run UNIX, Mac OS X and Windows XP, all at the same time. Damn, these Macs are versatile! :thumbup: ;)

:eek: I don't need no steenkin' new handle! This one keeps most people at arms length and that's close enough for me. Damn, quit trying to paint me as nice. <shudder> :grumpy: :p
 
That won't be necessary. All I need to retain grump status is to read the daily news. After doing so, I feel like someone has stolen my country and Constitution and replaced it with a third world dictatorship. :(

I don't bother with the news anymore, used to think our society could be saved. Now, I know at least for the next 4 years, we are screwed. Jeff has the advantage in that if the going gets REALLY rough, he can just head back to Peru ;)

Nah, but I've gotten my fill of it and have little hope that it will ever get better. So-o-o-o-o, a grump I will remain, 'cept here when I sometimes slip up and treat someone nicely. ;)
 
Well, guys, I can testify that no matter how bad it may get around these parts, there ain't no better place to be than the United States of America!
