If you buy a Strider, don't buy the belt sheath

(pertaining to the folders that is) from a "dealer". I bought a Strider SnG (great folder...hello Busse?!) from a top rated dealer (no names mentioned, but you probable know). Knife great, sheath sucked. Loose, and no real retention. Upon contacting customer support, It was suggested that I heat the sheath in a toaster oven and tightly mold the kydex around the handle profile. I know have a nice Tek-Lok attached to a useless piece of Kydex. Tried to contacted customer support again (two times) and never heard back again. F'ing surprise, no?
Gave Dave Brown of BuyBrown a call. He was surprised to hear that this "dealer" was selling these sheaths as they were not supposed to be selling them (something about screwing the original designer on the rights to the design) and to put Kydex in the toaster oven is not SOP. Made a very secure belt carry sheath for me (not the first sheath I have bought from BB) and all is good, except for the $40 I wasted on the first sheath. Regardless of their top rating, exclusive offerings, etcetc, they will never see another $$ from me. I'll go elsewhere or go without before going to them again. HTH. Later

Ya don't say who, so you're leaving everyone else subject to making the same mistake -- or distrusting EVERY dealer's sheaths.

If it's worth blaming, it's worth naming.

point taken. This dealer doesn't seem to be offering sheaths for the folders anymore. I'm not sure about others. Find out who/where the sheath came from at time of purchase, and you should be good to go. If it's reputable and not sold as an in house design when it's not, all should be good. Or just go after market. Some real good Kydex benders out there. Not trying to slam all who sell by any means...I love buying new knives and toys!! Some great people out there to deal with! Later. Tom

FYI, Strider doesn't offer the folder kydex any more either, so whatever you got was probably leftovers.

I just got a fixed blade Strider and the kydex is top notch.

I think this is a bit misleading in that Strider is mentioned but Strider was not the problem. The unknown dealer was the problem. If you had bought it from Strider, and told them about a problem, they would have fixed the problem.
