If you can have only 3 Emerson model...

My Super SOCFK, CQC15 and I just cannot decide between my CQC11 and my Super Commander.

The others are easy and clear choices; probably the Super Commander of the other two.

cqc8 or super version. either works.

patriot

persian

that is now, ask me tomorrow i may change my mind.....

Based on my limited experience. I go with the A-100 because it is the one I own but it is a good size blade and carries so well for many situations as an EDC. The CQC-7 wave because it is just a classic and as effective now as the day it was born. Lastly I would say the Hatin, mainly from Ernie Emerson video explaining the design has me convinced it is a perfect self defense fighting blade with a wave feature. I think these three cover all bases as far as blade shapes and functions but that is just me.

1.Mini A-100 2.cqc-6 3.XHD-HMMVK This list is in no particular order. (I really, really want the XHD-HMMVK very badly!! THAT is my #1 want Emerson right now!!)

Actually, I need to amend my earlier answer, I can do this rather easily.

1. Six
2. HMMV-K
3. Tiger

These are substantially above and beyond the rest for me. (I hadn't thought about the Six and HMMV-K in my earlier post).

This is really tough...I haven't had a chance to hold them all, but I think

1) Persian
2) Apache(mine is like butter, a friend asked me if it had bearings)
3) Tie between A-100 and CQC7

yep, my apache is exactly the same. think it only has one detent...and that helps. it's the smoothest opening emerson ive ever owned besides my sheepdog. i thought mine was a fluke....guess not. i'm gonna have to go open 'er up to see why.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing, my Apache is super smooth and quick out of the box.

guess they all are super smooth....good to know. thanks for your info.

EKI needs to implement this to all of their knives.

maybe some of the "Its too stiff and feels awful out of the box" haters might keep quiet. :)

^i doubt it. theyll just find something else to nitpick on.

For me it is actually really hard to only three, if forced to choose it had to be a Roadhouse, any size, a CQC7V and a Gypsy Jack, or a CQC8, a Commander and a Gentleman Jim; so many good ones!

Yeah man! So from what I can tell the Apache has a very different detent design. Most emersons have a detent that has constant pressure on the blade. The Apache's detent seems to be on the lock side. Gives it s butter like feel
