I have no idea why I collect Buck knives, But I do... J/K... There just a great knife and I like everthing about them... I hope Buck keep making knives and I'll keep buying them...

And I would just as respectfully submit that the point that seems to be implicit in this and other statements being made here is that the Christian religion is superior to other religions and/or that Christians are superior to those who do not choose to practice a religion. That's simply not true.

It's an "I'm better than you," or "Christians are better than Non-Christians," or worse, "God is on MY side," statement......and that is a false and harmful statement to be thrown in the face of another. That's how wars get started.

Attitudes like that are the reason for a lot of the fighting in the world today and we should not quietly stand by and let such attitudes go unchallenged......no matter who is making the statement.

Such statements have nothing to do with knives, but instead have everything to do with elevating one culture or belief system above another.......and that is an open insult to those who have other beliefs. It's a rhetorical throwing down of the gauntlet......a challenge, and an abusive one.

We can't afford to be silent about such things. Silence implies agreement and consent.

Peace is what I'm talking about. We must learn to accept each other and admit that God is not on the side of a certain group or religion.

If people must make claims that one group is better than another......then those claims should be discussed in private, not public.

All of which has nothing to do with religious debate, just appropriate behavior.
I want to reply to this sttement. I'm not trying to force you or anyone else to have the same religious beliefs. I was replying to the question as to why I own and bought Buck knives. I want to live in peace and live and let live. This is why I live in America so I can have a choice and let you have yours. I want to be friends with all.

I have long enjoyed the knives as a convenient and reliable tool. Buck Knives 110 particularly impressed me with his laconic quality and convenience. Nothing superfluous, but number of modifications of this model is amazing.

we all like our Bucks for our own reasons...
and in that we share this and can discuss it is wonderful!

the way the Bucks feel of life and run their business
is the reason they have the warranty and
the customer service they do
it shaped not only their lives but also their business..

to some what the owners of a company stand for can be as important
as any other reason may be to some one else..
and i feel it is a valid reason for someone to collect them
and ok if it is singularly the reason they may collect them..

personally, i never thought of this aspect when i started collecting
but having gotten to know Chuck, CJ and Joe and their families
i can tell you it truly is a important part of their lives
and is a important part of what makes the company
and i do not think Buck would be the company it is
had they felt other wise..

while it is not a thing you can put your finger on
it shaped the company and is the reason your knives are
what they are..
no one has to agree with them to enjoy the fine knives we do

I too purchased my first Buck knife back in the 60's and it was my first quality knife, aside from Case and Robeson pocket knives.

Anyone that was "cool" had a 110, on their belt and I went to buy one at the area sporting goods store. When I saw the 119 in the display case, I had to have it. Then when I realized the limitations of wearing it in public, I went back and got a 110 too!

I used and abused that 119 and it held up perfectly....well almost. I noticed some hairline cracks in the phenolic handle due to my throwing it into trees. When I found bladeforums, I sent it to Joe and had the phenolic replaced with stag. It came back SO NICE, I haven't used it since:D

From discussions on the forum, I am probably more of an "accumulator" than a collector as I am NOT focused on specific knives. Even though I mostly collect customs currently, Bucks conjur up good memories from when I used knives more for camping and heavier duties.
