If you could carry any knife, regardless of expense, law or any other constraint...

What would it be? I'm talking an ideal world here where people don't freak out if you're carrying a huge fixed blade or an automatic. If money was absolutely not a concern and neither were laws or societal restrictions, what would you carry? The only caveat is that you only get one (to carry).

So given that, no restrictions whatsoever save that it has to be your sole EDC knife, what would you choose?

Hi All-

My choice would be a Microtech SOCOM D/A Automatic for the following reasons:
  • bulletproof construction yet lightweight
  • choice of automatic or manual opening
  • big enough for virtually all cutting chores
  • small enough to ride comfortably while clipped in a pocket
  • razor-sharp from factory with solid lock-up
  • no-nonsense and reflection-free beadblasted components

Sorry, I won't play. The reason I own so many knives is that I like the variety. Limited to just one? Bah. Never happen. :D

A large(at least a 5'' blade) drop piont fixed blade and a Microtech OTF
You have to choose one, dude. Them's the rules. And if it's the fixed, which one? This is a thread for dreaming!

I would get a Spyderco Spyderfly. Balisongs are illegal where I live.
Again, I said regardless of law or other constraint. Imagine that there were no knife laws at all and you can carry anything, any type, you want.

i hope this day comes soon and is not just a dream. our boys in the armed forces r fighting 4 freedom and i think we should have ALL of our freedoms including being able 2 carry as sharp of a knife as we want.

but that is off topic, back 2 knife daydreaming! :)

A Becker Brute--Just so I could see the look on peoples faces when I take it out to open a letter. :D

Hate to be cliche`, but I'd probably carry a katana. Maybe cold steel would let me join their secret ninja club.

In the folder world, my 41MC or a Guinn Ring Fighter.

Yeah, I know. That's why I selected a knife I cannot carry in the real world.

The only knife law in my state is the prohibition of propelled knives (knives that shoot the blade out like a projectile). Not a huge issue with that one. I can carry a fixed blade concealed, an auto, bali, dagger etc...Our concealed carry permit is a "weapons" permit so it covers knives as well as firearms. All that said, I've carried an auto a time or two but most days I just carry the same old Spyderco Endura. It does everything I need a knife to do and at a reasonable price if it ever needs to be replaced. The last time I carried my HALO I was more worried about damaging/losing the knife than what people thought of it.
