Fowler Pronghorn.

Best answer IMO so far... :D Wish I could afford one.

Out of what I already have, I would probably carry one of my small personal bowie sized knives. Lamey Urban bowie, Primos el Camino, Camerer EDC.
I would still break the rules and have a SAK in my pocket though.

From the knives I have, it'll be my good old trusty EDC (a Spyderco Delica a bit tuned up - full flat grind, wireclip, traction grooves, you got the big picture).

From the knives I don't have (and I'll never will  ) it would be an Arpad Bojtos small folder. Only the thought of actually cutting something with this one makes me feel like a pervert

arpad botjos folder??

they are too nice to be used as your only EDC...

i will also feel like a pervert to use such a beauty to cut board etc.. :D

Limiting me to one knife is like limiting me to one food. :thumbdn: :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

But if I had to limit myself to one food, it would have to be a "multi-item" food, like stir fry. So....by the same reasoning, if I had to be limited to one knife, it also would be a "multi"...a Swiss Army knife or multi-tool.

Yeah but admit it, it would be fun, in a perverted sort of way :D

since when have i been concerned about "the law"? :D
i carry anything i want i t's the law around these here parts, if you have a ccw. You can also carry a sword over your shoulder if you want. done it a few times.

If everybody could legally carry any knife they wanted - then many of them would. In this case I would carry something like the new Busse sword in a shoulder rig of some type.

Why, I'd carry that new Busse Battle Shrike that Jerry is fixing to give away, of course.

You know, the one with all the cool wavy grooves and the reverse cut spine?

Yeah, that'd be the one I'd carry, for sure.:D

A cool question, for sure. I don't have any specific model in mind, but I'd carry a 4.75" fixed blade in a nice leather sheath. It'd be either carbon or Damascus steel with a spear or modified clip point. It would have a super-comfortable handle of either mastadon ivory, micarta, or a beautiful wood... yeah, I know, not too descriptive, but that's what I'd like to carry. In fact, legally, I can; the only (perceived) constraint is the raised eyebrows I'd encounter everywhere.... maybe I should just forget what people think.... food for thought :)

For me, it would have to be one of those huge Bill Bagwell Hell's Belle...Now, THAT'S a KNIFE!.:).

The only caveat is that you only get one (to carry).

So given that, no restrictions whatsoever save that it has to be your sole EDC knife, what would you choose?

Sorry to be a partypooper here, but going by the rules of having one and only one knife, I'll have to go with a Victorinox SAK as my EDC. And not even the top end (SwissChamp XLT, which I own, but has a lot more functions than I use; so it sits in my collection) -- but a Victorinox Fisherman.

Based on where I now reside, the SD threat might occur once every 10 years, if even that. So having a badass knife would be overkill. On the other hand, doing little things like opening a package, using a screwdriver, popping open a bottle is a daily occurrence.

By saying that money is no object, I'm interpreting this to mean that if the knife were damaged or lost, it would be replaced without any economic hardship, if so, then I'd probably carry the below pictured Harvey Dean MS. Gents Bowie, 5" forged carbon steel blade, semi sharp clip, blue and tan fossil ivory handle, 18K gold pins, and gold inlayed engraving by Mastersmith Steve Dunn. Of course in the real world, I'd never get over losing or damaging a knife like this, but if I didn't have to be concerened about such things, I could see this one in a nice Rowe leather belt sheath.

PS. Since some posters are discussing carry laws... Here in Florida, we're pretty free with what we can carry, having grown up in the NY/NJ area, this is a VERY nice thing I try not to take for granted these 15 years I've been here in FL. I have a CWP anyway, which does remove the few gray areas in the law regarding carrying weapons/knives, so far as I know, the only restriction on what I can carry, gun or knife, is what I can conceal effectively, by that I mean concealed enough to satisfy the legal definition of a concealed weapon. So, I carry/wear a variety of neck knives when out of the house, Strider SLCCs, Hartsfields, Microtechs, lately a one of a kind 5" Stellite Japanese inspired tactical Greg
lightfoot made me, oh, and of course don't forget the Glock 23. :)

I would have to say currently it would be my Lightfoot Sidearm with shoulder rig, the sheath is 'blue shark skin' over kydex and the menuki is a Mako shark tooth.

Losangeles,

I too strongly considered a multi tool, but the question does not limit us as to the only thing we can have, just the only knife. I have a whole toolbox of useful items that I can load up on, so if I only get one blade, it will be the toughest, most versatile blade tool I can get. That pretty much limits my choices to a fixed blade big enough to do the large tasks, yet still capable of somewhat intricate work. The Busse Battle Shrike looks like a really good balance. Big, but not too big. It is what I would refer to as the quintessential gen purp carry knife.

Now, if I was reduced to only one tool, then it's have to be my Leatherman Wave. 90% of the time that is the tool I am reaching for anyways. It won't split kindling like a big knife, but it takes care of so many other needs, and I can always scrounge up a good rock or scrap iron for wood splitting.
