If You Could Have Any JK?

I would like to have a Cassam Hawk - I just think it is a great design and would be very useful - not to mention it looks very cool!

I still want a Rule #9 as well.

But - I think of all of the knives, the one I would like to have that I don't already, is a Galley Wag.

God choices Andy, I want quite a few as I guess most of us do,

My hopes and fantasy's are a Frame-lock folder or a Canadian belt knife.

I think for my next knife I would like to get Toby's knife. It would have lots of uses around the kitchen and smaller jobs. It probably can do just about any task around camp. It will also work as an EDC. I like the length of the handle. If my wife starts to use it, she will most likely claim it and than I will have to order a second one. Second on my list would have to be a hawk with a hammer on one end.

well since I let mine go for a great cause I have to say the JK phoenix. this time around I would like to try one with the blade shape mykel came up with. or honestly that gamblers bowie in the exchange right now. If I wasn't freaking broke I would be buying that no questions asked

The first knife you ever sold. I absolutely love the blade shape, length, feel of the handle etc. It's damn near the perfect knife, too bad I wanna keep it as a safe queen.

I'm pretty set with JKs right now, but I think I'd want a TTSK. I've always liked it.

I'm dreaming of an Ebony handled, thin bladed, Nessmuk. A blade around 5 inches long would do really nicely.:D
Why, because it's a classic and you make the perfect "working man's" version of it.

I'd say the trailing point kitchen knife like the one Andy has, only in 3/32, with a handle similar to the knife you made for me.

I have to change the question a bit since I already own the models I covet most - for now anyway.

1. The JKCBK - it is awesome. Of course I could go on, but awesome does a great job of describing why I own it.

2. Trapline. This is a very handy knife; not too big, not too small and it cuts like a demon.

3. EDC Kephart - My most used knife. Easy to carry, easy to use and it is super comfortable.

4. Michigan Trail knife. The knife (of mine) that is the second most used. Really handy and tough. I love it.

As for knives that I don't own...

I really like the Toby's knife and the Galley Wag. Of course I've got both knives ordered, so I don't know if that really counts.

Now we're down to models I don't own and haven't ordered (yet).

There were a couple of drawing (from the contest held earlier) that I really liked. There is a good chance that I'll end up contacting the people who entered those ideas and requesting permission to have John make me one.

I also like the Hanna's Hope knife - a lot.

The Rule # 9 teeters on a must have/not sure if I like it kind of knife. One minute I'm determined to order it and the next minute I've decided that I prefer something else.

At some point I'll replace the Nessie, the Green River, the PDT and the Hawk that were sold - but for right now there are other models that I must have. Beginning with the Toby's knife.

That camp knife of Machines is looking pretty tempting.
The LOBO calls me too though, but stretched like my HB.
The hunters hawk I think you called it,would be nice also.
Like the urban spike with the tip of the spike cutt off for hammering.
I was drooling over that one,but just couldn't swing it.

I have the Pocketmuk and Cassam Hawk on order( both are really great design) , maybe a custom one . . . I am working on it :D

I believe I'd go for the Toby's knife v2.0, Hiker, or one I drew up.

I've always considered a smaller, narrow bladed bird and trout style knife. Just never came up with one I really liked, but that Toby's v2 looks great.

I really like my Ky Woodsman for hunting, cleaning game, etc. I like the size but was considering a knife with a narrower blade for wood cutting type tasks, thus the Hiker consideration. (Nothing wrong with what I have but gotta try and rationalize new knives someway)

It fun drawing up knife designs, and I've got one in mind that would make a nice edc, I believe. About 7" oal, with 3" blade kinda a larger patch knife. Now that I think about it, it's like a beefier Toby's v2 (no wonder I like that so much)

realised I didn't say why, whoops

framelock folder: because sometimes I like carrying a folding knife and it'd be nice to have a JK option, I like the friction folder but sometimes I just want a lock, also there's a sort of JK history to it which I like.

Canadian belt knife: I have always just really liked the shape of it, I think th handle design looks very comfortable and I can imagine it being very utilitarian.

Honestly my need were met with knives a while ago and now the justification are harder to come by, but I like trying different things, everything has pros and cons after all.

the pocketmuk has also been on my list for a long time, never tried a muk and I really get the most use/enjoyment out of a smaller knife that I can carry around anywhere.

I would love to have a titanium framelock. I already have a semiwharncliffe edc that I use a lot. But if I could get that blade on a framelock that would be my ideal knife. I find that blade shape really useful.

like KYe said...don't think I "need" another knife. but, i suppose that wasn't the question. :D

i just looked through John's models once again and wow...there are many still on my want list....
1) Kephart
2) RWC
3) CBK
4) MTK
5) KY Woodsman
6) Trapline
7) #9 (like Tahts said...i go back and forth on this one)
8) Stubs

That list was from doing just a quick scan on John's model and pricing post. And, the order listed reflects the order on that post. i also have a few that i know i want that aren't on there...
1) bushcrafter
2) EWOK
3) TK_V2

Wow. that is quite a list. and hmmm...i suppose if i were pressed to pick just one, (right now) i think my next knife purchase would be the Trapline. The dimensions seem about perfect for my needs. And, i really dig the handle shape.

thanks for the interesting post. i always like these because it's great to see everyone's thoughts.

I don't usually contribute to this subforum, but for me, the perfect JK knife would be a Kentucky Fieldmate, with 3.5" STAINLESS blade, with black micarta handles, red liners, and hollow pins. I'm just sayin!

That, in my opinion, would be the ultimate in utilitarian knife design.

Great stuff!!!!

I forgot all about a model that I really want......
