If you could have any manufacturer make any knife to your specs, what would it be?

I would bet it is the 2013 Case/Bose Wharncliffe Trapper, I am lucky enough to have one coming in stag.

That is fine looking, for sure.

I'd like to see GEC make a Lanny's Clip. 1095, O1, or D2 would be great. Rat tail bolsters, an old random style jigged bone like Ken Coats uses, and a match strike long pull.

Their 2012 Forum knife with just the clip blade would be a good start, but ideally I'd like it on a 3 5/8" frame.

I'd ask Western to make a "trapper jack" on their 691 frame. Delrin covers, nail nicks both on the mark side, carbon steel blades.

But Western is gone, so that is out.

Next option might be to ask Boker for a mid-size (4") barlow. Spear and pen in high-carbon steel, saw-cut bone covers, liners and bolsters in iron.

I would ask Buck to make a 301, except with a pen blade instead of a spey, in their custom shop with their superlative S30V blade steel and Micarta covers.

GEC Grandad Barlow, with a long STRAIGHT spear blade, and a warncliff secondary.

Stamped bolsters (both sides).............and just for giggles, choices for blade steel. Something like a thin ground M390 at 62rc or ELMAX at 62 for stainless, I I could go for stainless bolsters and liners).

Something fun for a "carbon" option (by that I mean, it will take on age and patina with use). Maybe CPM M4 hardened to 63-64? (maybe with low carbon bolsters and liners, or more stainless here too). Honestly, here, even a thin ground CPM D2, though I find it hard to get any color on my D2 blades. It has not happened yet.

Cover options like Ebony, Stag, sawcut orange, Ivory?

Long pulls. Both blades.........

Pinchable spear.

Make another option with a clip blade.

Case Medium Jack, CV Steel, Moss Green Bone, Oval Case Shield.

GEC Scout Knife, 1095 steel, Olive Green or Amber jigged bone, Spear or Clip main blade, Can opener, Bottle opener, Awl, and a Bail.

I wouldn't mind having the Zulu/Tribal Spear folder made by Remington, the original Remington cutlery that closed it's doors in the 1930's. Using their carbon steel, nice bone scales. Of course, I'd have to wait for it to age a bit to match the Remingtons I've seen with worn bone scales. Seeing as I don't have a time machine or patience, I would like to go with something simple. A #23 pattern lockback from Great Eastern cutlery, with a higher grade steel than 1095 or 440C, bone scales.

Case Medium Jack, CV Steel, Moss Green Bone, Oval Case Shield.

I like it. I wouldn't mind one of these myself.

Id like to see case expand their CV knives to more handle options. Why do they only have 5(?) CV handle options anyways?

I would like GEC to make a small Toothpick, preferably with a damascus blade. Overall measurement 3" or less. Never happen, but one can dream. I'll settle for a Case version, which they do make.

SAK Spear point, Wharncliffe and punch with Blue Jeans Alox

no key ring clip. Similar to Victorinox Farmer.

Howsabout some 154cm, too.

Based on previous real-life experience, if a company rang me up and wanted to make a knife according to my specs, I'd hang up and change my phone number!! :D

man you took the words right out of my mouth, how sweet!!
A Norfolk whittler on the case/bose frame with a slightly wider than usual coping blade secondary and a Wharncliffe master. I have some creamy Walrus ivory for the scales.:D Dream on.

Best regards

Robin

I'd like to see a either a GEC #72 Northfield Mini Lockback Hunter, or a Tidioute #15 TC Barlow in green mammoth ivory, with no shield (on the 72), and all made using damascus steels.

GEC Grandad Barlow, with a long STRAIGHT spear blade, and a warncliff secondary.

Make the Mammoth Ivory TC barlow with a damascus trapper blade setup just like this, and we'll be golden

I too would like the GEC #42 lockback in O-1 and Ebony or nice cocobolo, or even A2 and Ebony or Horn . Both run at around rc 60-61. Satin finish, spear point or clip.

It never hurts to dream...
I would like GEC to make a 440C version of my HJ6 (all steel construction, and same ebony wood handles).
And, I would like Buck to make a 303 without the spey blade (just clip and sheepsfoot, both on the same end, nicks on opposite sides), flat ground blades, and eventually try the S30V Frank mentioned (although their "standard" 420HC would already be great for me).
And, I would like Victorinox to produce a Bantam with an additional layer with scissors.
And... :p

Fausto

I'd have Northwoods, aka. KnivesShipFree/okbohn, make a peanut, with the smaller pen infront of the larger clip, in ats34 steel , stainless steel liners and bolsters, and yellow paper micarta.
