OK, heres the situation - Money is no object  , and whatever knife you choose would be made available :D : The catch is that it has to have been already made, and you need to be able to show us all a picture.

What would go for? What at this moment in time is the piece that sets your heart pounding (lets face it it can change from day to day, but the point is to capture current tastes and preferences).

Cheers,

Stephen.

PS: Yes this is just a self motivated way to get some real eye candy for my personal collection!!!!

Ah - another knife porn thread!

For me, it's easy, I would go for Don Fogg's sword, Old Bone:

I'm sure I could list about twenty, but since you ask for one, here it is (pic from www.fisk-knives.com):

orig.jpg

Fisk "El Capitan" bowie. 10-11" of big, beautiful, broad-bladed damascus. Clam shell S-guard of pre-Civil War wrought iron. Awesome stag carver handle. Whenever I get to the top of Jerry's list, it's a knife like this I'd like him to make.

In the sub-catgeory of "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's knife" - knives of my fellow forumnites that I wish were mine (just off the top of my head):

Joss' Yakuza Bowie by Fogg
Coop's big forged integral fighter with scabbard by Tai Goo
Win's awesome Newton bowie
StephenF's big damascus bowie by Filicietti
ptgdvc's Rojo camp knife by Fisk
Megalobyte's humongous swashbuckling bowie by Mike Williams
Darby's damascus D-guard bowie by Roger Massey
Keith's Cactus Rose bowie
RWS' damascus Winkler bowie
Danbo's - well... ALL of them! :D :D

Cheers,

Roger

No fair Stephen - show us yours!

Well...today that would be a W.D. Pease folding tanto - this one.

This Newton knife in a Bowie blade length of 9"-11" and width of 1 7/8"-2" with a presentation grade popcorn stag, hidden tang, carver handle with stainless fittings engraved. Also, an engraved sheath.
or maybe Roger will just gift this one to me. :p :D

I also like this Kirk Rexroat with a wider guard and ferrule.

I'd be fighting Joss for that Fogg

But I'd happily settle for this Bradshaw too :D

That stagbowie would be my 2nd choice. I still remember Don proposing it to his list of customers 3 or 4 years ago ... for $950.

I want the Loveless/Johnson subhilt fighter that appears on the cover of "How to Make Knives". That knife started my interest in all things sharp.

Andrew Lim

Fossil Ivory, 9 1/4" blade, domed gold pins/escutcheon.

Roger,

Thanks for putting my Newton on your list, that is quite a compliment to Ron.
I didn't need to spend alot of thought on this one. Don Fogg is probably my favorite maker but... His neighbor Jimmy Fikes has a few must haves. Top
of my list is a Fikes "Jungle Honey".

Damn Roger - I was hoping no-one would notice I'd copped out .....

Well if your pushing me, in the currently made section, then today it would be this Tim Hancock dog bone bowie:

But it will probably change tomorrow to be replaced by the Fisk, Newton, Dean, or Williams that regularly haunt my dreams - not to mention the Bradshaw Samuel Bell, and that Filicietti of yours!!

There's clearly been quite a bit of cross polenization between those two. That Fikes (or a similar one) is in the Knives '95 (or 94? 96?) which I was reading in bed yesterday... :)

I was waiting for someone to show a Hancock. In the large "cowboy art" bowie category, his work is nearly without comparison. Coop has an amazing one on his site from the latest invitational. Plus, Mr. Hancock has developed the courteous and quiet cowboy persona to the ultimate extent. I don't know if it's learned or if he was born like that, but he's great to talk to at shows.
