If you could make your own knives

wow that looks amazing :D

how much did that set you back. if you dont mind

Not all that much when you figure in the fun of designing your own knife and see it in the 'flesh'. They were both made in 2002 (when I was still working :D) by the same knifemaker for less than $700 total. Quite a bargain when I've paid that much for someone else's design. ;)

wow thats great man

I would like to see a Benchmade 943 Ti with a CPM S110V blade but lengthened overall to come up with a 4" blade. Stellite 6K would also be suitable for a blade material.

I was just looking at my Kershaw Blue Mountain that I used for 15ish years.
Man, if that thing had M390 (M4, perhaps?) blades it would be a champ. Maybe half an inch to an inch longer, too.
It would be great if they brought back the Blue Mountain with better steel.
It's all I'd ever need.
Love that knife.

The perfect knife:

Handle: Yes
Blade: Sharp
Lock - somehow, or something's gonna go wrong.

Did I misunderstand the question?

I would have to take the "if you could make" out of this question and insert "when I made". I have made two knives from ATS-34 steel at 60 on the Rockwell C scale (because I knew someone who could heat treat it for me) and the handle materials were Buffalo horn on my first knife (stick tang 6" chef's knife), and stabalized sycamore (I think...it was from another friend) on the second knife. The scales on the second knife cracked because I did not ream out the holes for the mosaic pins and the fit was too tight. The reason was because I did not have a drill press or reamer at the time. The next gift giving holiday, I corrected that with a sale item at Grizzly (drill press) and online order (can't remember where I found the reamer).

My third knife was simply ground from a file with no change to the temper. Probably too hard, but all I'm doing is opening the mail with that one. I chose not to add scales.

Are they pretty and/or high end? No, but it is possible. I have 10-11 others in various stages right now. Most in ATS-34 (for the same reason), two in D2 and 1 in 01.

I made this knife in photoshop.
Full flat grind S30V blade with TI lined G10 handles with a carbon fiber inlay, pocket clip able to be mounted anywhere, AXIS lock. 3.7 inch blade with a 3/16 thickness and a 4 inch handle.
