If you could only have one multi tool

I'd have to say the original Leatherman Wave. I've never found anything else that's better as an all around workhorse. I don't find any of the changes that have been made to it to be improvements. I've had mine for years and years, it's so slicked up it opens like a butterfly knife now.

Another vote for the Wave. For me, the Wave is the perfect compromise of size weight function and leverage in a fully loaded multitool.

I found the Supertool 200 too large and heavy for EDC; And I missed the scissors.

For me, it is about the tools. One hand opening and pocket clip option are great, but otherwise I prefer the ST 200. It is capable of heavier duty and on a belt is as easily carried as the Wave. There is a 1/2 ounce difference in weight between the two.

Since I find the Wave scissors too small and less useful than the one on the original Wave, I'll gladly trade it for an awl, which I use and the Wave lacks, and keep a Micra handy for a better scissors than either.

To each his own (biased) opinion. ;)

If weight isn't an issue and it's all about the tools you might want to look at the Surge. It has a nice pair of scissors and an awl plus the convenience of one handed opening blades. I really like the saw/file holder which will also fit a multitude of jigsaw blades ( I keep a hacksaw blade in mine ) and the saw and file can be replaced for about $5 from Leatherman if they wear out.

Man, the more I talk about my Surge, the more I want to change my vote from my sweet Original Wave to the Surge...hmm...not yet.

You are probably right about the Surge, it seems to have everything plus what look like decent scissors. However, I only buy these things at clearance prices and usually, those come up in January. That's how I get to try them out. If there's something that doesn't work for me, I can sell it off for almost as much and sometimes more than I paid. It can take months and even years before "such a deal" comes up, but I am able to wait.

So far, I'm a little ahead. Patience pays off. Only problem; over the last ten years I grew fond of several candidate multitools and am now reluctant to part with them.

So much for the master plan. :)

Around all I'd take the original Swisstool. Next would be my new Charge XTi - modified with a real philips screwdiver and long medium flathead.

Original Swisstool, original LM Wave, Juice, in that order. I may carry the others on occasion, but the goto tool is the Swisstool.

I've broken Gerbers, tore my hands up on original LM's, tried the SOG side folding pliers, and gave up on Bucks. The Swisstool is a tool first, and has the best all around implements. It survived hardened wire cuts, filing rivets off padlocks, tightening phillips screws on the frig handle for years, and still works.

I had a Surge briefly and decided it wasn't for me. I found it too heavy for ordinary edc and the stubby driver bits couldn't reach half of the fasteners I encountered. I traded it for a Swisstool that I get out for stuff that I don't want to abuse my Spirit on.

I have changed my choice...

I just bought a Leatherman Blast today and I've got to say that it seems to be just about perfect.
It has just the right array of tools.
It's not too heavy.
And all of the blades lock.

I like it better than my old style Wave.

Only one? If I can also have a decent 3" bladed folder, the choice is very easy for me....

Swisstool Spirit!!!

:)
