If you could only have one, small Seb or Mnandi?

So Looking to buy a nice knife, for years have made it buy with a small cutco folder my mother got with a set of knives and a really massive swiss army tech knife....used to have a benchmade balisong but that got lost or stolen a long time ago.

Narrowed it down to either the Mnandi or the small Seb, I like both but for different reasons, the Seb seems a bit more "classic" in that the design has been around longer and more utilitarian, wheras the Mnandi a bit more practical for my application given that I am more of an office type and need something that isn't that utilitarian looking.

Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

For an office environment I would definately go for the mnandi. Its very classy, nonthreatening and is a very stout folder. The thin blade makes it a laser sabre and like I said much more solid than you would think by looking at it. Definately a wolf in sheeps clothes!;):D

I agree with Scott Dog, Mnandi is a better choice for office type environment.
It is a solid knife , yet refined in all aspects.

That's kind of a tough choice, I would probaby have to choose the Mnandi though.

After having and carrying both, I'd recommend a small sebenza carried clipless in your pocket. Not taking anything from the Mnandi, it's a fanastic piece of work, but I just love the blade shape and locking action on a Sebenza. Plus you can get graphics options on the Seb or simply go plain titanium, which aren't options with a Mnandi.

No real downside to either, just personal preference.

Am I the only one experiencing De Ja Vu??

Noooo....

As the title suggests, this would be your do everything knife...mostly light duty office style work.

Like the Mnandi but the Seb seems more "classic"

Thanks

If I wanted one, and only one, do come close to doing it all, I'd buy an inlay small Seb. Better all around versatility for cutting, and a more refined appearance for "dressier" occasions.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I think the Mnandi is a MUCH classier looking knife than a seb, especially with the inlay. "Utilitarian" is a word I would use to describe the seb, while to me the Mnandi is the ultimate gentlemans (locking) knife. And CR tough at the same time. Just my opinion, but another vote for the Mnandi.

Mnandi would get my vote for a discreet office knife. I keep mine clipped in my shirt pocket and people frequently think it's a pen.

The Small Sebenza is a nice knife, but more suited to a casual environment then the Mnandi.

"Dressier" was intended to mean dressier than a regular Seb, which to me has a kind of simple but severe appearance. There's no question that the Mnandi is a more refined "gentleman's pocket knife" than the Seb, but a wood inlay Seb can bridge both worlds in a way that neither a Mnandi nor a utilitarian Seb can do. It's a compromise, but if the OP only wants one, compromises must be made. At least until he discovers that you can't actually own just one... ;) :D

Get a mnandi quick! before they find somewhere to stamp idaho made :(, oh yea get it in damascus aswell because its awesome :D

I have often carried both -- Mnandi clipped to a pocket, and Small Seb in its CRK leather sheath in my inside suit jacket pocket.

The sneaky Mnandi is very good at clipping itself into a shirt pocket and masquerading as a pen. :D

I have done that too and, you're correct, it looks just like a nice pen.

Ditto.

For strictly office, I would go Mnandi. For everything else I would go small seb. If I had to choose, I would go with a small seb. You can always get it with some sort of inlay or graphic. Plus, I feel that the seb is just more useful folder that can handle more tasks. (Not saying the Mnandi couldn't handle them)
