If you could only have one, small Seb or Mnandi?

thanks all,

I love the clip on the mnandi and the overall look.

I will have to give it some more thought but on the whole I think the mnandi is more appealing to me right now, who knows if that will change though.

And as for both, well I don't need a $300 knife so I doubt I can justify two which I don't need :) then again said the same thing about fountain pens and watches and have more than one of each of those.

I went through the same exact decision process this past summer and I think I even posted an identical question :)

I wound up getting BOTH. The Small Insingo and a bloodwood Mnandi - for work and nights out I carry the Mnandi more and I've never felt myself in a situation where I needed the additional strength of my Sebbie...

So another vote for the Mnandi, but methinks there is a good chance you'll wind up with both eventually :D

Iv'e been carrying my Mnandi a lot lately, which I never carried it. I love the way it feels and carries in my pocket. I leave the knife in its pouch though. .

Thanks all, it is tough as I think aesthetically I prefer the ebony Mnandi but the fact that the Seb is the classic makes it that much more appealing....glad I don't have the cash yet and stores seem to be out of it as it gives me time to think.

these are the two I would consider:

I doubt that you'll find a plain Regular Seb in a store anywhere -- they were discontinued some time ago. But they do show up on the Sales forum from time to time, so save your pennies. . . .

Small seb! Have both, love both! The Mnandi is pretty small and very light, and beautiful! But something about the seb i just love it!

I now have both and still can't decide.

I've got to say small Seb is definitely THE go-to EDC. As far as the function and the ability go, small Seb covers all Mandi can do and much more. This knife has the ultimate ease of maintenance especially if you get the plain one like I did. I don't have to worry about juice from hood getting into pivot, effect to wood inlays from washing frequently. The size both in use and folded is just about perfect for EDC, at leaset for me.

BUT, the look, size, and the whole package of Mnandi is really great especially if you live/work in urban area where showing pointy blade in public can be a bit intimidating. Mnandi really is THE gent's knife. It goes really well with non-knife people, and is a great conversation starter as well. I just love the whole process with this knife from taking out of my pocket to folding it back after a quick use. Tiny lockable gent's knife with this quality and smooooothness is really remarkable, and personally, being able to get a lefty model without custom order is really priceless.

My verdict (EDC in city/office)

• If you can carry another blade (non-CRK, multi-tool, etc), Mnandi.
• If you can carry ONLY one blade, small Sebenza.

But really, if you can afford/justify it, "BOTH" would be my real verdict, and that's exactly what I did. :D

I like the seb more so I would say go with that one. And if you can only have "one" I'd say get one with a really sweet inlay =)

Small Sebbie for me. I carry, and use, the small micarta inlayed version every day. I carry it using the clip in my pocket. I received a beautiful Presentation Ironwood Mnandi from my wife for Christmas, but have never even carried it.

I have an inlaid small Sebenza that I carried for almost two years and I recently got a Mnandi and have started carrying it instead. Even though it has only been about two months with the Mnandi, I would say that I have not run into any task that it has not been able to accomplish. Even though it is a smaller knife, it is well built and really fairly heavy duty. It is a better slicer than the Sebenza. Now, if I was cutting up heavy boxes every day I would probably choose the Sebenza.

So, my verdict is go for either one and you will probably be happy. If you actually use the knife for lots of heavy duty chores, go for the Sebenza. If you need the knife to just be present and to cut the things that you run into every day, open packages, slice a piece of fruit, etc, go for the Mnandi.

WOW!!

I have a standard Desert Ironwood Mnandi and I have to say the wood on the one you have is absolutely the nicest have seen. The coloration and grain pattern are just perfect to my eye. If I found a Mnandi with wood like that I would snap it up.
