If you could only have one...

I searched for an old thread thinking someone had to consider this before now. If you were only allowed to keep one knife out of all that you currently own what knife would it be? Why? Bonus points for pictures.

Mine would be my Randall #26. First high end knife I ever owned, still love it to this day, use it regularly during hunting season. I don't seem to have a picture of it by itself, here it is (top) with my #27.1346 resize 1.jpg

There are probably 100 threads on this subject.

The answers are always you shouldn't have just one. And everyone has varying answers for various reasons.

It's a fun topic for debate and opinion, but it ignores one of the core reasons why we're all here:

We like knives.

You'll find people who are content with one knife, but the reason this place continues to be as active as it is, is because it's chock full of knife junkies who have acknowledged that they like variety, and they like The Quest, but they aren't really interested in finding The One Perfect Knife. Some of us even dare to believe that it may not exist....

Yep... These threads are like frogs after the rain :). You kick a hat, and a half dozen comes out :D.

If I could only have one knife I`ll go with the Fallkniven F1 because it`s a pretty good all around "Almost do everything" knife.

I am far too deep into my addiction to be able to pick one knife from my collection . It would be like taking a fat kid into a sweet shop ( candy store )and asking him to pick one sweet . It's just not going to happen :D

Well I guess I just couldn't find the right terminology to get even one to come up so I apologize. But then as our collections change, do our picks change? Up until I bought that Randall, it probably would have been either my Buck 103 or 110. Even my custom knives can't argue their way into the "only one" spot at this point in my life. Have to something pretty special with a lot of meaning.

Yes we like knives. But I didn't ask for "The One Perfect Knife". I carry a folded knife or two every day because a fixed blade just isn't practical for me. It is about more than what can the knife do. What does the knife mean to you? Or why is it the last one you will ever give up? Just some thoughts.

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting one of these threads. :D
There's the problem! I was swinging a dead squirrel that was just dispatched at my bird feeder. Cats have a longer reach I guess... Lol.

Massdrop x Laconico Keen. If I could only keep one knife, it would be this one. Great handle, the blade is ground to cut, it’s fun to fidget with, and it works in all of the places I go.

If I could have two...

Then I’d also keep the purple one, and I carry the purple more often.

The main problem for most of us (I think) with this question is that our answer changes on a fairly regular basis. ;)

Ahhhh. The lightbulb above my head just got a little brighter.

That would be the Ripple that my son got me as a gift.

Guess I am not much of a collector, my answer hasn't changed in 20-25 years. But I so enjoy getting and seeing new knives on a regular basis.;);)

One knife for every use? Probably my Busse Swatmandu LEOR. Big enough but not too big.

If push came to shove I was thinking AD10,AD15 or Recon 1; Simple and strong, I think that would be the way to go...

Grimsmo Norseman...

Easy to maintain, robust, useful blade shape (for me), comfortable to use and to carry.
