If you could only own one RAT...

The RC-4 is the "Goldilocks" of the whole crew. It is the one knife I ALWAYS bring with me on hunting, camping trips etc.

I EDC'd a 4 for quite a while until I picked up my RC-3 and Izula.

I still think it's about the perfect size, the sweet spot in the lineup if you will.

If this is a whaddaya-wanna-have-with-you kinda question, I'd say the RC-4. Like shotgunner11 said, that was an easy choice (for me).

That said, I'm really getting to like the RC-3MIL -- a lot -- for more casual carry, and I'd have no problem getting "stuck" with it. ;)

Izy, 3 & 4 owner. If it had to be just one, it would be the 3 as it is used the most.

I haven't even held one, but honestly it would be the RC5. Sometimes you just want a tank of a knife.

RC4 -- its the ideal "only knife". It handles big and small in one convenient, but indestructible package.

I love my Izula. When I entered the RAT world I sort of chuckled about the teensy little Izula. Then I talked myself into having the whole set and got one. Love it. Period.

But if I had only one, I'd stick with the RC-4. I plan to be buried with it one day in the distant future.

Defiantly the Izula – it’s sitting pretty above all my current users

in fact I only picked one up by chance and signed on here to show my appreciation – will take some pics of my set up very soon

This is a cruel question.

It's like asking a father of three to pick one child that will live. (Ok, maybe not that bad)

I can't choose, you can't make me, so :p!!!

Thanks for logging on and welcome to the RAT pack.

You can do things with a small blade that would be a drag with a bigger one so my Izula would be the first choice. RC3 as a second but can I please keep my RC5?

Question for the guys who picked the RC-4: why did you pick it over the 6?
The 6 has the same thickness, so it's just as good a slicer, a bit bigger for the heavier chores, and not enough heavier to matter.

Is it all due to laws limiting what you can carry at Wal*Mart, or is there a more practical reason?

Honestly, for me its a more practical reason. I chose the RC4 over the RC6 because:

1) I just dont think I need a 6" blade.

2) From all the experiences shared on here, it seems that the RC4 can still do pretty much everything the RC6 can, while remaining a more manageable size.

3) Looking at my personal use, I've never needed to do a lot of heavy chopping or batoning and this seems where the 6 trumps the 4...

It wasn't an EDC issue for me at all as both are illegal here - that is why I picked up a RC3 (in my bag) and Izula (on me).

That is how I rationalized picking up the 4 over the 6... It was a very tough choice but I am 100% confident it was the right one for my situation.

Hope that helps!
