Which one would it be and why???
What changes (if any) would you make?
Products, Services or other offerings?
Have fun with this one...
Cheers,
Gord.

REKAT.

I'd hire a "Quality Control person".
I'd hire a "PR/Advertisment person".

I'd have a much greater presence here on the Forums.

I'd come out with:
A DA Automatic Sifu.
A Sifu the size of the Carivour Cub.
A larger Pocket Hobbit.

I'd re-design the Hobbit Warrior to make it more "user-friendly" for any style of grip.

I'd make ALL folders completly 100% ambidextrious, with dual thumb-studs and reversable pocket-clips.

...Well, I can dream, can't I?.:).

Kershaw.

They are based in the USA and have licensing agreements with Ken Onion for the speed safe and various knife designs. I’d offer a line of titanium handled frame locks with the S-S and a choice of high-grade steels and limited Damascus runs. I’d do it at prices so low that I’d be out of business in eighteen months. We’d all sure have some cool knives, though.

I would like benchmade I'd add more of a hollow grind to the 710 and make more knives with the VG-10 steel. I also like that they make most of there knives in the USA if not all. I know that the VG-10 is a Japanese made steel but it is so good that I would import it. And I would make sure that every knife that left the factory had an razor edge on so that the costomer would not have to sharpen it before they started using it!

Easy choice. I want Microtech. I don't really want to make any changes. I just want one of every model and variation they make. And since my name is Lanny, I may change it to Lannytech (HA HA LOL). Just kidding about the name change. Oh yeah, one change would be a Lefty LCC. :D

I would like to own Case. I would put some decent steel into their traditional pocketknives, both a high end stainless and a decent carbon steel.

I like slipjoints, but I like them with good carbon steel blades and jigged bone scales. The only knives with jigged bone don't have the bladesteel I like, and the ones with carbon steel blades have Delrin scales.

If I could, I'd buy both Wenger and Victorinox of Switzerland and start production on high tech, rugged tactical folders. I'd start with a 4 folder with options of crimson red, olive green, and black solid G-10 handles, thick titanium linerlocks and the Swiss shield embedded into the handles. I'd probably end up paying royalties to Benchmade or SOG in order to use their Axis or Arc-locks on some models. I'd also update the typical SAK's with thumbstuds on the main blade for one handed opening and perhaps do some custom collaborations as well.

Will it ever happen? I think not. :D

I'd pick REKAT and I would fight hard for my internet following. Contests, news, and heavy forum involvement, and I would also work harder on QC, but I think that it is a problem that has been blown out of proportion by some. I would focus on meating the existing demand for sifus, and I'd offer a basic 4 inch tactical folder with a rolling lock and zytel scales at a lower price point (ala benchmade's griptillian). I would forgoe the bigger pocket hobbit (allready a damn big knife) and focus on the pygmy warrior, and then a lower end version of the hobbit warrior (440 C).

CRKT

All models would be ATS-32, or 55,
and Some BG-42 stuff. and Asysmetrical grind, and
do some more stuff with Kit Carson....But atleast
there working on that one, but I also like the idea of
makeing some sweet knifes and sell at cost for the first year,
I know you wouldn't make money THE FIRST YEAR, but think of the rep.
you could get!! Kit Carson M18's with BG-42 for $30-40

If nothing else I know one place where I would have ALOT
of friends!! :-)

I would buy REKAT and hire Will Fennel away from Camillus for Customer Relations and (Really Fantasizing here) Hire Sal Glesser to implement Quality Control.

Spyderco (I am really the first to choose Spyderco ?), but I guess Sal would not agree ;)

No real changes, just more G10 handle knives and clips that provide deep pocket carry ...

Darn, I'm not the first, but I would want Spyderco as well. I wouldn't change a thing with the knives or QC, but that logo would have to go. I'm sure there is a story behind it of which I am unaware (feel free to enlighten me) but as far as I can tell, that is an eight legged tick.

I would have to pick CASE, and add better steel. Also, design a Case Tactical Folder called the "Rattler" with G-10 handles, and ATS-34 or VG-10 steel. I know they already have the Russlock, but I want a little bit more tactical.;)

My next choice would be Emerson, and get some damn good QC happening over there.

I thought of Spyderco, but they just don't get any better for me.

I too would get Emerson.

And my one goal would be...

To make sure no one on this forum could say a bad thing about the comapny!

Mission Knives for me. They make some Tough stuff and have cool designs, other than that probably Mayo Knives. Just imagine drinkin boat drinks all day under the sun, while women with thongs on are running the lathes and grinders (and serving me drinks in between) rubbing sun tan lotion on my staff ( i mean the women !) Goddamn Tom you got it made!!!!!!!!!!! :) ;)

I'd own Spyderco, keep Sal on as advisor, keep on
Dominating.

Just for grins, I'd expand the line by
making "modern classics" by which I mean rip-offs of
everybody else's designs.

Imagine the new SpyderChute
line offering a Siffu, a Pokket Hobet, a Bussey BattleMrs,
some MacroTex, some Marbels, maybe even a KBER.
How about Cool Steal, Columbus River Tool & Knife (CRTK),
Swizt Army, Bark Knives, Garble, BenchMaid, Ontarrio,
and of course, Red Eye Knife & Tool.

I would start a new company. Get new designs from Elishewitz, Carson, Ken Onion, Emerson and the next guy with great stuff that comes along.

Would work pretty much like CRKT but with minor changes... better blade steel and a skeleton crew..... Salaries are your biggest cost components, then materials and then advertising.

Few people = less salaries = lower cost.
Can't compromise on materials.
Advertise on the forums. No big media advertising, so we save on advertising costs.

That means you guys get the great deals :D
