If you could redesign the swisstool...

1. Diamond file
2. S30V blade one hand opening
3. replaceable wire cutters
4. less polished screwdrivers (like leathermans)
5. pouch like the LM supertool 300 black oxide
6. The compound pliers like that of the SOG
7. more needle nosed pliers
8. ESEE/Busse Warranty :p

I have used the warranty service from Leatherman, Spyderco, North Face, Benchmade, Victorinox, and Gerber before. In my experience, Victorinox has been the best. Since the Swisstool is riveted, they replace it with a new one if they can't fix the problem.

Do they really have a velcro sheath with the spirit? That's crummy. The swisstool has a snap. And what hook on the awl?

The sheath is a nice leather one, but with a crappy velcro tab.:grumpy:

If you can find a picture with the tools deployed, you will see that the awl has a weird hook at its base; I have no idea what it could be for. Some rainy day, when I have nothing to do, I might grind it off.

Oh yeah, hmm. Looks like a fireplace poker. Maybe you could use it like the parcel hook on a normal SAK.

The only bitches I have with the Swisstols and Spirits is the slippery handles - easily taken care of with texturing of some kind , and the lack of a pocket clip .

I wouldn't even change the scissors . I think the pouches should be snap closed as opposed to velcro .

it would also be sweet if they made a sheath like the buck x-tract and it had both horizontal and vertical carry. They should figure out a way to incorportate the tweezers into the handle somehow, that would be sweet!

Only things I'd change would be to make the scissors open a little wider and put a snap on the sheath. Also maybe thin out the angle of the grind on the chisel, but I did that myself. :)

I would probably introduce some tabs to help get the tools open other than the little finger nicks. They especially are a pain if the blade is tight and you break your nail pulling it out.

I would also put on a much better lanyard. I am often above the ground and need to physically tie my blades and multitools to a belt loop to make sure they don't fall and I much prefer the lanyard loop on the back of the tool like you see on a Leatherman Wave or Charge, than the design of the Swiss Tool.
I agree with this 100%!
I love my Swisstool X but never use it because it is a fingernail killer.
Also would like a real lanyard ring.
Because of the fingernail issue I pretty much only carry my Spirit in place of the Swisstool.

With the Swisstool Spirit i would put regular normal Vic Scissors into it!
Also put the regular spearpoint blade in as standard, add a lanyard and.....................
ADD A BELT/POCKET CLIP!
:)

For the Spirit find some way to fit a plain edge blade, a serrated one, and scissors in it without loosing other tools.

The only changes that I would like to see is that the tools would be easier to extract and the cutting edge on the pliers should be twice it's current length.
Otherwise, they're the best out there!
