If you could resurrect one defunct TRADITIONAL knife company, which one would it be?

I wish "Schrade" and "Camillus" were not being plastered all over garbage chinese imports, fooling people into thinking they are buying from reputable companies.

Companies come and go, it is the nature of the world. It is sad to see rights bought and a name slapped on a sorry product though, even more so that both companies provided good jobs for a long time to people in NY.

Same with the Remington logo I guess. Shame it couldn't be like GEC, buying the rights to names like Tidioute, Northfield ETC.

I'm tempted to say the very short-lived Jack Black Knives, but I'm really not sure I'd want to go through all that again! :D

I would have to go with Western. They made great knives with great designs. They covered both fixed and folders well.

I know very little about vintage slipjoints, but from what I've seen in the "Old Knives" thread Empire made a knife I'd be proud to own and carry.

Schrade

You would think some company could fill the void for a cheap carbon steel slipjoint.

My choice might surprise some but there is only one I would like to resurrect:

Wenger

They made the better SAK but lost the business battle :(

BINGO.

Unfortunately, I never knew how good they were with their 1095, until it was too late.

We took them for granted, thinking they would aways be there, some treasured them, some treated them like dirt as a throw away knife, now it has become a holy grail of those who appreciate a fine pocket knife that can stand the test of time.

Robeson, Western and Schrade, hell I'd bring back all the USA made companies that went under...

I don't have enough historical knowledge of all of the great companies that came before, but from the one example I have of a Schrade 1095 blade, I'd sure like to see that kind of quality resurrected. So mark me down for Schrade, at least in some incarnation.

Remington UMC. I love the old Remington knive and the newer reproductions are a very pale imitation. Id love to see what they would put out today.
