Well fellow forumites I am back from my extended weekend in the woods. First I would like to thank big Bob for posting the Veteran's day post. Now back to the story so you'll know this is from the heart I'll start like all good lies do. This is a real no ****er! I used my 20" AK for four days solid it did every thing from clear out a hooch site, and splitting firewood, to making and setting beaver snares. I am nothing but amazed at what this knife can do! I am still learning how to use this knife in place of my old axe and knife combo. My Estwing "camp axe" has been outmatched ten-fold! For those of you that have one you know what I mean for those of you who don't, get one! I camped between a beaver pond and an old cut over, in a pine thicket. Firewood was no problem other than carrying it! I use a hammock and poncho hooch set up along with my bivy-bag, and pack in my food and water. Not true survival living but primitive enough to make me hate the office! As I mentioned it was my goal to snare some of the beaver that are in the area, no luck this trip but, I am going back this Friday and will be out all next week. I will probably regret saying this since beaver has a totally different meaning to some but here goes. I have read in the past that the early mountain men preferred the tail to the meat. Does anyone know a recipe for this? Well this is getting long and I am way off subject. In closing I must say thanks to Uncle Bill and the Kamis for providing me with such a fine knife. Having it in the field is like having your buddy there. This knife is alive and it has a certain presence about it that makes one feel complete. Thanks for lending your ears (or eyes) for a time to hear my tale.
