If you dye Linen Micarta handles...does it work?

I know a couple HOGs on here have used the shoe polish with great results. BigFatty is one of them and he says it does not rub of and will take it well.

Let us know how she turns out (pix please) and like Garth said if you dont like it he will put whatever you want on it and then you will for sure like it.

I did use brown shoe polish on my Ash1. They are black canvas, which are kind of grey in color. It darkened them up nicely. I would not call it a completely permanent change. It has been quite a few months of use and washing it up after getting it dirty. Then handle scales are not as brown as they were, but they have not returned to original color.

This is what it looked like after I hit it with brown shoe polish.

Since then, it has been about 6 months or more. It is lighter now, but still seems to have a bit of brown in it. It has been washed with hot soapy water and cleaned quite a few times since then (like the time I butchered the elk with it, it got a good scrub down).

Seems a little less brown in this shot.

It may be time to hit them again with a light brushing of shoe polish.

I think I still see a color difference, even though they are lighter now. The almost seem greenish brown now.

I think dye might work. I don't know if you will get a consistent even color, but heck, give it a try, and if it does not work, send it back to the shop for a different set of scales.

Forgot to add that tan scales are one of my favorite, after things like green linen, and of course snake skin, and black paper.

Also, that is a great looking knife as is.
