If you had a key to the Busse Combat shop, what kind of design would you slip into the pile of upcoming designs and what would you name it? Would it be a Badger Attanto? A Sheepsfoot Heart? A Battle Beer Opener. . . . . ? Any design and any name. . . describe what you would like to see and what you might call it? We have quite a few new designs coming up. . . you might get lucky. . . .

Yours in Newclear Designs,

Jerry Busse

How about a 6in. blade, 1/4 serrated tanto point made of 1/4 INFI BLACK STEEL and call it... the Black Plague.. : )

Well, being the proud owner of the BA Skinner, I can say that I'd like for all of my Busse forum hunting friends to have access to something similar. The E-handle and Scagel influenced drop point blade design are a wonderful combination. For the majority of us who are primarily in pursuit of deer sized game or smaller, the blade might benefit from being just a hair shorter, say 3 3/4" to 4" range. It would also be interesting to see how such a blade would perform if made from 3/16th inch stock.

I never would have thought of it!!! AN INFI BOTTLE OPENER
biggrin.gif
I could almost justify the $100.00/inch for one of those. Shaped like a little Steel Heart II perfectly proportioned, opener on spine, convex grind opposite, cute little micarta slabs, special kydex sheath so opener can be used without removal from sheath(for those many an open beer nights when handling sharp objects would be bad

)
I can hear those little yeasties calling for something more worthy to free them!

Oh almost forgot, we could call it the Bottle Mistress

I would make a 5/16" Khukuri style blade. With tan micarta handles, about 17 inches overall length. Break front sheath.

I would call it "Trouble".
..or "The Beast from the East."

Wild Boar hunting dagger, double edged, 6 1/2 inch tapered blade. On the lines of an Applegate-Fairbain or EK, but longer and Busse styled. Named Tusker, Bush Pig, or Hog Hunter.

Another would be a hard wood Machete, the Timber Wolf.

Finally, a small light belt axe/hatchet. Matchstick Maker.

Jerry
Well, Mine is already designed so I will
call it the Busse "Shadow".

I think the name fit's pretty well huh?

Now Jerry, please remember you opened this can of worms

Why change what has been successful in the past? People still want Mean Streets, Straight handled Badgers, E-Badgers, and the Folder.

I would slip in a design for an improved public information system and some way to jack up production to fill the daily increasing orders. We know you have a lot of secret stuff you can't talk about and we respect your need to keep it private. BUT let us hear more about the projects we do know about. Why cancel such a good knife like the Mean Street? The Police Recruit is a handy blade, do your reps have an ample supply? I have seen the reaction people have that never before heard of Busse when they pick up one of your blades. Your designs are awesome and I don't need to tell you what INFI will do. Design, create, help these people own one of your creations. If you are having trouble getting a lot out of the door, tell us, we will understand and support you.

I'm sorry Jerry if I rubbed you the wrong way. But Heck! I like you and I think you make the toughest and some of the best designed knives in the business. Please try to put yourself in the position of a customer waiting on one or two of your knives. What am I supposed to tell a friend when he sees my Mean Street or other Busse and says, "How do I get one?"

When is the folder going to be released?

Once you have filled our bellies with what you have already allowed us to taste, then we can talk about new designs. Like a Clip Point Steel Heart with a parasite blade. Like that Bad A$$ BM variant I saw in New York with that short stout clip point, wow!

I continue to be a fan of your work and will continue to defend it. Please remember that a cheap knife in hand cuts better than any three on backorder.

Your Nuclear Friend, Melvin

It would be a Badger Attack blade with a Mean Street handle, made from 3/16" infi and I would call it a Lean Mean Badger Hunter or LMBH.

I'd bring back the straight handled INFI line. With all kinds of variations.

I'd also make the Basic line all INFI with a full tang, resprine C handle. Also with all kinds of variations.

e.g. fighters, serrations, 6in badger attacks, partial serrations, a lean INFI line, INFI machette, INIF boot knives, and the INFI bottle opener would be included with each knife instead of dog tags. Etc, etc, etc.

I was thinking the same thing about the original line. Love that straight handle Steel Heart!

Melvin,

You couldn’t rub me the wrong way with a wire brush. You are counted among our good friends here and unless you do something to my beer your comments are always welcome. You bring up some good points and I’ll address as many as I can right now.

The production cycle is a long one from concept, to design, to execution of prototypes, to actual manufacture. Some of the NEW designs that we will be introducing are throwbacks to prototypes from as long ago as 1985. Some will look like modifications of previous models and some are production versions of special runs that we have made for elite military and police units throughout the years whose exclusivity agreements have expired.

It is important to note that ALL current backorders will soon be filled. We have made major capital investments in new equipment and technology. We have taken on some new production personnel whose extensive backgrounds in manufacturing should prove most beneficial.

Look for Andrew Pinchen, Dave Roberson, and myself to put updates on particular models here on the forum. If you have specific questions concerning your order please contact us via email. We will do our best to keep you updated.

Our new models will prove to be exciting, not only in design, but in affordability as well.

Yours in nuclear friendship,

Jerry Busse

I would like to see... More Options!!

I second what WTF said--I would like to see Busse Combat bring back the straight handled models--not to REPLACE the E line, but to SUPPLEMENT it as an alternative line to the E models. I think if you revived the straight handled line and offered it at roughly the same prices as their E counterparts, you would have enough straight handle orders to justify their setup and production. If you want some evidence of this, just watch the Knives For Sale-Individual forum and see how fast ANY straight handled Busse models go, INFI or not! The demand is so high for straight handled models that the current market is justifying prices of $50-$100 over the full retail prices for the respective models when they were bought new. And as for myself, even though I already own 1 straight handled BM, I would buy another straight handled BM or SH2 from you today if you had any to offer at the same price as their respective E models!

I have also noticed that some of the straight handled Battle Mistresses had their clips ground to a false edge, while most did not. Perhaps that could be an option as well, as some may prefer the enhanced penetration over an extra reinforced tip. If you have to charge more for certain options such as this, so be it; as they say, "market will bear".

Finally, I would like to see the 9"-10" bolo bladed willow point knives offered as a regular production E model, even if you can only make a small number run of them once a year. You know they'll sell out.

Thanks for asking, and keep up the good work.

Thanks Jerry, your beer is safe. I don't worry about my personal orders, I have someone watching my back.

I just like to be able to tell people how to get a Busse. Your knives become more popular everyday.

I wear my Busse Hat with pride....Goes good with a particular shirt I have....

You may think it's funny but wait till it's your turn.

You can't run, you can't hide, and you will no longer be able to avoid the issue. Sooner or later Busse Combat will have to come back with the staight handle models.

Yours in nuclear ball busting!

A fast in the hand, bowie style fighter.
Sharpened clip, E or straight handle.
Also, some type of dagger, along the size range of the A/F. Can you say dual talon hole guard?
I'm still stuck on a name I suggested for the Bolo project, Cheetah Whisper.
