This is just to inform any of you I may have contacted about a trade or purchase offer, that my house burned down on 3-1, and I've lost nearly everything I owned. So I can't follow thru w/any deals. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and I'm insured. Just one of those things that kinda turns your world upside down. Thanks for listening.

I just finished a deal with Tom. Great guy to deal with.

Tom, sad to hear about your misfortune :(

I hope everything works out alright with you.

Sorry to hear the terrible news. Thank God you and the family are alright. Hope it all works out OK. Good Luck!;)

Man. . .that sucks ! So sorry to hear of your misfortune and feel your pain ! !

With you losing just about everything that you own. . . Do you at least have a knive to place in your pocket ? If not. . .send me your temporary snail mail addy and I'll send you a folder so that your not walking around with that "blade-naked" feelin' !

Thank you, gentlemen, for your much appreciated concern. And a special thanks to GigOne for your kind offer. But, fortunately, I was carrying a Spydie Centofante II, a Queen Drs. knife, and the original Leatherman tool, at the time of the fire. And I had just stopped at my mailbox and got my new Sere 2000 I had bought from a forumite. Also, a few days later, I received my new "99 model lg. SOCOM I had bought from a gentleman at Knifeforums. Plus I have several fixed blades and traditionals that reside safely in my garage. So I'm not knifeless, by the grace of God. I'm not even going to try to replace all the knives and guns I lost - I know I had way too many anyway (if that's possible!). I would also like to extend a public thanks to Greg Mete (Kodiak PA) for his generous offer of a nice multitool. It's the many quality and knowlegeable people on these forums that compel me to drop in every chance I get. Thanks again, to everyone. :D

Don't be so hasty there...I know, you're still in shock.;)

Anyway, I'm sorry for your misfortune. I hope you have no problems with the insurance companies.

Wow - what a tragedy! Good thing all your loved ones are safe.

You could of course see this as an opportunity to cash in on all your knives and upgrade your collection to custom only ...:-)

Thankfully you and yours are OK. Everything else is just stuff.

It's also good to know that you had some bladeware in your pocket and mailbox. You have friends here and that is also good to know.

Tom mate, I am truely so sorry to hear about your loss.
Any idea what happened to cause it?
There is always those personal treasures that cannot be replaced.
I feel for you.

No, Dirk, not really sure what caused it. We've kinda dedeuced the culprit to be either a faulty electric baseboard heater or one of the three surge protectors in our computer room, where the fire started. We had two puters plus all the peripherals set up and running at the time, and had nary a problem with that set-up for about the last five years. Oh well....thanks to everyone for their concern.

Tom
My sisters house burned last summer, one doesn't realize
how much you lose. you'll remember stuff for years that you for got about.
a safe family is the most you can hope
for, the rest is a plus. she and  my brother in-law had
28+ years of married stuff go up in smoke in less than
20min. no one was home thank God, if they were
and were a sleep they said no one would have made it out.
a refrigerator capacitor failed that wasn't cool.
your a lucky man,  you lost but won.:(

I keep the most valuable things in a safe - with a fire resistance box - good for 45 min or so...

I was told this is the max time most fires last.

Graymaker: my loss was very similar to your relatives'; we lost 27 yrs. of married live's collections of antique furniture, Hall china, Fenton, jewelry, 2 Elmira stoves, innumerable needleworks and Quilts...the list goes on and on. And Blililous: our house burned for seven days. The fire dept. had to return six times to put out fires that had become unmanageable and threatened our other out-buildings. Again, thanks to all for the kind words and concern.

This is why I insure everything! Get an insurance broker to your house and go though all the stuff you got - you'd be amazed at the amount of stuff you gather over the years.

Insuring is costly: but man is it worth having.

Like carrying a gun- it's good to have and never use!

a gun can be fun though,...insurance...no... :)
