If you had to choose just one knife...

I did. I actually had to choose just one. After being laid off and a few unexpected expenses, I've had to sell all of my EDCs. Sure, I'm keeping my trusty Leatherman Wave, my Snody Shank and my keychain Vic SAK, but none of those are knives that I actually EDC. I'm down to my Hinderer XM-18. I could do worse, right?

In light of this situation, I've decided to join So-Lo's challenge to EDC one knife for one year straight. I would've just posted on that thread, but I can't find it. I will most likely be getting some more knives between now and the one year mark, but I'll stay true to the challenge and the rules put forth by So-Lo in his thread.

So there, I finally gave a real answer to the undying question of having to pick "just one." Anyone care to join me?

Tough one. Either Para Millie or the Manix ll ?
Sooo I'll take the Manixll which should cover most of the bases.

In the last few weeks I have dropped my collection down to only 4 knives:

Manix 2
ZT 0301
Kershaw G10 Tyrade
Hinderer XM18

These knives all suit my needs pretty much equally, so if I had to go to one for financial reasons I would list them all and keep the last one left after others sold. I have a feeling it would be the Tyrade or Manix and that would be fine.

If I had to pick only one for non financial reasons I would keep the XM. This is mostly because it would be the hardest to replace. Well that and I could play with scale colors if I got bored :)

I'd pick My BG-42 Lg, Sebbie with Barry H's carbon fiber scale, I took the original ccg scale off to protect it.
The CF lightens it up just right, and carries in a belt pouch very comfortably.

Why fight it? Large Classic Sebenza! If you can't afford the Sebbie then go with a Spyderco Sage II RIL.

If I had to pick one because of financial reasons, Id get either a mora or a SAK. it is stupid to buy an expensive knife when you cant afford to pay the bills.

If we are just messing around, Id probably pick a spyderco military as an all around knife. I dont have one though. There is no do-it-all knife and I prefer to specialize.

I carried nothing but a Vic Electrician Plus [a Farmer with a small sheepsfoot blade instead of a can opener] for 6 months a while back as a personal experiment and had no problems including field dressing 2 whitetails with it.I didnt have to skin them but probably could have if necessary.--KV

:confused:That's a tough question.[scratches head]

I can narrow it down to three at the least.

1.Large Ebony Wood inlay Classic Sebenza(It's my first Seb)
2.Spyderco Stretch II CF/ZDP
3.Spyderco Large Persian(took me two years to find)

I couldn't part with these three.
