If you had to choose only one?

Looks like you might have picked up a great one! Those leatherman sheaths are nice, I had a hogfsh one that I liked!

Valid points.

And I agree... handles ARE definitely a personal preference thing!
For me... the SFNOs just feels and looks like it has WAY too much handle. :o

.

Yeah, it's definitely 'each to his/her own' on handles. One of the first things I liked about Busse knives was that the handles were quite large. I think I've got average, maybe a little wider, hands for my height, 5'8. I find the handles on a lot of knives just a little small though; not too small to hold, but I just like something big to hold on to. ohh err...

I've just been looking at my ASH-1 LE and SFNO LE (any excuse; they are permanent fixtures on my desk!) and to me there looks to be more difference in blade size than handle size. I find the SFNO a little quicker in the hand due to the lack of the bird's beak that the ASH-1 has, and has a wider range of grip options for the same reason. The ASH-1 though is beautifully neutral in balance, gives a superbly comfortable and secure grip and the bird's beak allows a secure rearward grip for chopping. I think that would quickly cause a pinky blister though.

Anyway, I love them both for their own merits and they are both keepers and excellent users.

I know the majority here seemed to like the SFNOLE better. But the NMSFNOLE is just downright purty. :D

Probably end up with a SFNOLE later anyway. :D

I think the SFNO-LE is more versatile and the best compromise. It has the longer blade length than the ASH and you can minimize that by easily choking up (using the choil and thumb groove for your index finger wrap). The straighter butt also allows you to maximize the blade length for chopping and batoning by holding farther back on the handle.. In addition, the SFNO-LE is not too big to carry and use while harvesting wild game.

If I had to choose one for the rest of my life, it would be the ASH-LE.

I would choose this blade because it is the most compact of the three, and tend to use smaller blades more on a day-to-day basis. That and it has the best finger protection for hard use and stabbing.
