I was wondering, if you had to choose top 3 of the customs that you OWN, what would they be? Mine would be:(in no particular order.) 1.Kevin Wilkins Avalon 3. 2. Tom Mayo TNT. 3. Matt Cucchiara Mini Scrapper "Gecko".

It is tough to pick just three, but I could be hard pressed to top these three.

Well TKC, you have not got a lot of customs, right now, right?

Becomes a lot easier to pick when you don't have that many to choose from.

If this sounds snippy, it is because I have been racking my brain for over an hour, and I can't even get down to a top 10. This is vexing me greatly.:o

Steven -- I agree with you. I have about 168 knives and recently someone asked what I'd be prepared to sell. I had a hard time finding 10 and even some of those I might regret. No way I could limit myself to 3. Heck, in the first 6 months of this year I have added 2 dozen knives and which of those would I not keep?

Really hard to choose, having a small collection helps though ;)
I choose these 3 for the superlative fit and finish. In alphabetical order:

Kressler

Lake

Mayo

I also have a Blackwood, a Bose and a Rhea that are in the same league, but had to choose 3.

No way I can do three. Four was tough enough.

The next month or so should see incoming blades from Russ Andrews, Dan Farr, Nick Wheeler and Burt Foster - so this call is only going to get a lot tougher.

Okay Murray,

How about your three favorite bowies?

Roger

I have a fairly small collection and it is very narrow/concentrated. Ill just post this link. I pretty much like all the ones on the top two rows and you can see I really focus on the little folders. I need to expand my horizons (and I've begun), since I was never too into the fixed blades. I like my Cliff Parker, Hansons and Fowler the most I suppose.. but the JWS folder I carry is great. I am a quality over quantity collector/user. I DO use my customs!!

Suzanne,

Not to be a dick, but are you counting your Chris Reeve knives as customs? Because they are not. They are great knives, and I have like, 5, but they are not customs. I carry, use and thrash my Classic large Sebenza.

I can't even choose top 3 bowies; multibar composite from Cashen, a stag fighter by Andrews, Clouds bowie by Fogg, Wootz bowie by Pendray, Fall Fighter by Sfreddo?

These knives all speak to me, and they say............ "if you use me, you are a moron".:D Not because they are not made for hard work, they all were, but they are irreplaceable. Now, a Hinderer XM-18 may be hard to replace, but it is a MODEL of a knife he makes, he will do another one very similar. This is not the case with Fogg, Pendray, Andrews or Cashen.

Just trying to help define a distinction so we can COMMUNICATE better, am really trying to not be devisive with this post.

Best Regards,
