If You Had to Sell all but One... A Philosophical Question

I have several knives which were gifts from my son, and are way beyond valuable to me and will be passed down to future generations. That being said, of the knives I've purchased, the one I'd never give up would be my Lon Humphrey hand forged Kephart. There isn't much this knife can't do while camping or hiking.

If I had to keep only one for EDC use, it'd probably be my PM2. That said, I prefer to carry 2 knives and the PM2 is rarely either of those knives these days. It's just the best compromise between the small EDC knives and large tactical folders that I own.

For use it would come down to SnG, Seb Classic or Native 5. Force me and the SnG stays due to it's rock solid everything and the "not afraid" attitude when using.

If I had to live with 1 knife for the rest of my life, it would probably be my Southard. It is as close to a perfect (for my needs) knife that I have ever found. Furthermore, unlike a one of a kind custom, if it were ever lost or stolen, I could easily find one in stock to replace it with.

I can't imagine this ever really happening, but if forced to choose, my one folding knife to keep would be my first Hinderer XM-18 3.5" spanto grind. My one fixed blade to keep (shudder) would be my Busse TGLB.

Thankfully this is just some kind of sick, twisted nightmare ;)

I'd honestly have to say I'd keep my SAK Climber - I love my other knives, and don't really "love" the SAK, but it is by far the most useful (by virtue of having the cap lifter, can opener, bottle opener, etc.), if I can only have one.

I can narrow it down to a 4"ish fixed blade...probably ESEE or Fallkniven

My custom Kressler fighter. It is the only blade that I will never use, and it's the only one that nothing can make me get rid of it. It is a $5,000 custom double-edge sub-hilt chute with amazing Sambar stag scales. It was gifted to me by a very generous friend when I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.

If that's the only blade you'll keep and you'll never use it, what are you gonna use? Your teeth?

A nearly impossible question to answer. Many factors involved in making a decision like that: sentimental value; economic value; usage value, just a few pop to mind. In my opinion, what you would say today (if that's possible) may likely, and probably change tomorrow. If this became reality, I believe after the fact remorse would set in. "I wish I would have kept this one instead." What if your grandfather gave you this beauty and your father gave you this awesome skinner?

Good idea! (But you'll have to move to Boulder so that I can still use them...) ;)

No way! I lived in CO for thirteen years and I'm sick of it! I like the green, oh wait, you may not know what that looks like.....

On topic! If I had to sell everything but one I would keep my ESEE IZULA, Jeff Randall gave it to me. :)

If I continued "To Live and Die in L.A." (movie title) my Rod Olson Quick Flick LSCF with a 3" blade. If I moved to friendlier knife territories, my Zero Tolerance 0888.

Are we choosing only one of the knives we've bought or just one single knife? Cause I have some knives that were gifts from friends/family/my wife and I have some knives passes down from my father that even in an absolute have-to-liquidate-everything situation I wouldn't sell so if you were to force me to pick one single knife to keep personal preference wouldn't matter, I'd keep one particular one of my fathers...

On the other hand if you exclude those knives and say I have to sell all but one of my user knives, not the ones I've got an emotional attachment to, I'd probably either choose my Benchmade 710 or I'd trade for a Gayle Bradley and keep just it.

Same here on the gifted knives with sentimental value.
