I highly recommend it. I am enjoying the challenge.

If I have kept accurate count, this is my 14th knife project.

I thought it would be simple. I had the "perfect" profile on paper, but when I transferred it to steel -- wow! There was a lot of subtlety I had never imagined. Once I got the basic profile cut in, I spent better than an hour making little changes all around it, shaving a little here, a little there, with files. I guess it would go faster with a grinder, or a sanding drum.

I did not intend the handle to be that skinny, but I just couldn't resist taking off more and more material; Force of habit, I guess.

Material: O1
Thickness: .093"
OAL: 8 7/8"
Cutting edge: about 4 1/4"

What do y'all think?

I just made my first ness and you aint kiddin. Its a tough design to nail down.
All them curves I guess. Nice job though. I like it.

I totally agree. I just finished my first one and it was a pain to get the curves just right. I'm still not sure I did it.

Blue, that ness is sweet. Funny, I did a hamon on mine too. So much real estate on the blade. Thought it would look good.

Awesome knife! Wish i had the skills to do that.

Here is where it's at right now. Sanded to 400 grit.

I cut off that "peak" on the spine, and rounded it off, because I thought it was looking like a cimetar.

It is hard to read the ruler, in these pictures, but the cutting edge is just a tad more than 4".

This might turn into a WIP thread, but I don't expect it to move too fast.

This is totally experimental for me. I am not an expert on skinning; never skinned anything bigger than a Safeway chicken.

Hmmm. I think the handle arches up way too high. I am pretty sure I can correct that by making this into a stick tang knife.

I have been toying with some sketches of some nessmuks and came up with a design basically like Condors. I did cut down on the handle length about an inch. I have not done a scandi grind yet...is there any advice you guys want to pass along before I start. So far I have only done full flat grinds with the aid of Fred's Bubble Jig.

To bring the handle down, I want to do something like:
