If you like the Izula. BHK February Special.

That looks fantastic! Is care of 4140 steel any different from 1095? Does it sharpen easily?

It's a carbon steel so regular maintenance is needed (oil/keep away from moisture). Not sure about sharpening, but I can't see it being too difficult.

I dunno if it helps anyone out, but they use 4140 for axles for cranks and hubs in BMX freestyle bikes, I'm not sure if any of you out there know quite how hard they get beaten, but it doesn't ever really break (usually just a defect or someone's properly abused it). Basically, it's tough stuff, I can't really say anything about edge holding as the only 'edge' it has to hold in bikes are threads, and just about anything it seems will hold a thread just fine.

What your talking about might be 4140 series Chromoly. Not 100 percent sure though.
BHK makes a outstanding product for a really fair amount of money. Plus LT and Dan are stand-up guys. Two of my favorite companies right here. ESEE and BHK.

I just got my Apprentice knife from BHK. What a beaut!

I regret buying only one; should've bought another especially at that price :(

I'm really glad that I jumped out on this one! This knife is an excellent value. Very nicely made, wicked sharp and comes with a well-made dangler sheath (not this one). It'll make a perfect pocket fixed EDC.

Ooops, sorry. Must have clicked the wrong button. Thought I was in the ESEE/RAT forum. Nice knife though. Gotta go, sorry again! :o

I own one of the regular BHK Patch knives with a thinner spine, great little blade. This is one hell of a deal.

This is the ESEE forum, if you have a problem with the thread you don't have to click it or better yet you could just not post. BTW you're not very subtle, if you want to troll you can go someplace else.

Sorry, must have hit a raw nerve. I thought we were all having fun being here. I like BHK knives. I'm seriously considering getting myself on the waiting list for a Bushmaster. I didn't realize you were having an intense conversation about the knife. I'll try to be more considerate next time. Lighten up, life's too short. If the mods think I'm out of line, I'm sure they'll let me know. See you around. :)

Not a raw nerve, just remember that this forum isn't just about ESEE knives as stated several times by Jeff himself.

Again, I apologize, I guess I picked the wrong thread to be witty in. :o I thought it would be a little humorous but since it was your thread you didn't see it that way. I probably would have reacted the same way .....maybe not. :D The BHK knives are very nice and I have no problem discussing them in this forum. But, think of it this way, the thread is still being kept alive with this incident! :D Sorry again. :o Isn't it a beautiful day for some bushcraft? :)

Sorry but there have been a few (probably the same guy) trolls popping up on a regular basis around the ESEE forum so it's hard to distinguish between wit and blatant trolling. No hard feelings. You should get on that waiting list for that Bushmaster.

4140 steel performs well from my experience so far. Cut up a few cardboard boxes and the blade was still sharp, did a few passes on my strop and it pops hair. It's good stuff.

I heard nothing but good news about the knife. I also like the Bushbaby but I think the Bushmaster will come first because of the serial number thing. Saaaay .....didn't you call me a troll? How did you find out about my height? Anyway, no hard feelings. :) ....This thread is still alive, isn't it? :D

Got mine in. It is smaller than I expected (length) which I prefer. And the stock is thicker than it looks. It feels nice and stout in your hands. Even without the sheath this is a steal at $55.00

The sheath is also very nice as well.

This is a great little knife!!! Sheath is great quality. This is one of the best products I've ever purchased for $55.

You should check out the new March necker special. Looks very nice! Though I'm still holding out for the Bushcrafter, ...must avoid distractions from my long term goal. My Izula will see me through as my necker, especially with its new scales.
